Would be that hard?? I mean, fine.. The scope of the arena wud def. be compromised. But hey, a simple 'Regular/Large/Dynamic-Cam' might suffice even if u'd give up the 3rd person view mode's huge-ass arenas.. In fact, I myself didn't even care much for the size of the stages in B:3..
Get ready to Kamehameha your enemy through a mountain courtesy of the new Impact Break system.
Over three years ago, the Dragon Ball Z franchise made its PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 debut with the well-received Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit. The visual vibrancy of that game captured the feel of the anime very well, but when it comes to the massive catalog of Dragon Ball content, fans are always clamoring for more. Well, more is on the way in a few short months, and we visited Namco Bandai on the floor of Comic-Con 2011 to take a look at the return of the long-running Budokai Tenkaichi series. Titled Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi (a name chosen by fan voting), this fighting game is fixing to bring large-scale destruction and big-time boss battles to the hard-hitting ninja-on-alien-on-android combat.
Ultimate Tenkaichi is a 3D fighter in the vein of Burst Limit, with spacious vertical arenas and flashy anime visuals. New to the series this year is the Impact Break system, which will let you literally punch your opponent into the ground. Rocks will shatter and mountains will crumble, adding an extra "oomph" to your special attacks. This environmental destructibility resonates nicely with the exaggerated violence of the series' signature fights, and the destructive potential of Ultimate Combos is something to behold. Have you ever hated an enemy so much you wanted to destroy the world in order to harm him? In Ultimate Tenkaichi, you can do just that.
Planetary destruction notwithstanding, Ultimate Tenkaichi is aiming big in a few other ways. New boss battles pit you against towering enemies that mean you harm, and from the looks of it, you're going to have to dish out some serious punishment before you make a dent. We witnessed Goku taking on Janemba's first form, a chubby horned demon with a goofy smile and four strange holes in his belly. After laying into Janemba for a while, Goku was faced with a quick-time event that required some frantic button mashing. Success meant a very damaging attack, which accelerated Janemba's inevitable demise. Namco Bandai representatives told us that a battle against Vegeta in his Great Ape form was also in store for intrepid brawlers.
The final feature that Namco Bandai teased before our demo was over is character customization. Though Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi will be stocked with familiar faces, you will be able to mix and match hair, clothes, and even choose from among a few preset fighting styles. Exactly how far you'll be able to diverge from DBZ canon was unclear, but we were told that more on customization will be revealed as the October 25th release date approaches. Until then, check out the gameplay clips embedded below for a better taste of what's in store for Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi.
How come 'they' can't just put an OPTION to go "3D Tenkaichi" or "Classic Budokai" modes, for the game!?
A must have. Now for a massive RPG (not MMO) set in the DBZ universe where you travel the galaxy and help or destroy civilisations and eventually become its Emperor or Saviour.
I just seen the full roster for this game and its 44 (62) with transformations) and there are S#^t load of characters missing from the game like: Trunks Goten adult gohan, super trunks, ssj4 goku and ssj4 vegeta are also missing from the roaster
@Bushwacker101 yeah i hated the budokai 2 and 3 games only cause it had that stupid game board thing lol but loved the gameplay... but like the gameplay of raging blast 1 & 2 just wish they had reinvented the story mode in rb2 as it was a huge letdown to me
cant wait, love the tenkaichi games because i feel i am the character, i did love the budokai 2 and 3 games but i didn't feel as involved with the game like tenkaichi
It looks promising but looks can be deceiving..........Don't need to play the same game over and over again with just a few tweaks lol............
check the reviews namco bandai....Budokai 3 was the only game recommended to fans of all fighter games....not just limited to hardcore dbz fans. make a good game, stop pumping out cookie-cutter tenkaichi games
i was excited for game until this gameplay...... i prefer tenkaichi gameplay style only because theres a lot of freedom to move etc...than budokai and the quick time button seems over used in this game, comparing to tenkai chi 3. Rather then mixing budokai and tenkai chi gameplay style they should have improved only on tenkai chi and it would have given player in depth fighting experience where player can pull ridiculous move and so on anyway over all fail for me since tenkaichi 3...
i heard this game will have GT saga too i hope they dont live that out from this game because GT is important!
if this fights like burst limit, im getting it. if it fights like raging blast, i might just buy it so i can stomp on it and burn it. also, everything else in this article sounds pretty awesome, im keeping my fingers crossed
character customization!!!!!! @Asikokami it's not that accurate Nappa armor is wrong color and some of Goku outfits are wrong so NO not accurate.
KAIO KEN TIMES 100, HEYAAAAAAAAAAA !!! I honestly have not played DBZ since Budokai part 3 on my PS2. I liked that PS2 game, but wanted a game with more environmental damage. The realistic graphics and environmental destruction of this version will definitly make me come back to the series :)
This is the last DBZ game from Spike and it's also the most accurate DBZ game since Burst Limit. COunt me in.
From what I saw the action looks good. I really need a good DBZ game in my life right now. It's been too long!
OKAY, we get it! It had top tear graphics now stop focusing on that and make the character roster Bigger than Tenkaichi 3, Which you will never do because you never did. Either focus on the gameplay and the huge character roster or else we wont buy it and Tenkaichi 3 will remain the best DBZ game ever.
All I ever wanted was a Tenkaichi 3 with next gen graphics...but they gave us raging blast -___- hoping this will be better
wow. i saw some gameplay of this on youtube, and i thought it was gonna be stupid. but after seeing the new videos and reading this preview, i was totally wrong and i think this game is gonna be fresh to loyal hardcore dbz fans and if i have 60 buks when it comes out im 100% gonna get it. thanks chris watters and gamespot for good coverage.
really looking forward to this but did anyone else notice that all the videos say "for xbox 360" but they are all PS3 game footage and is it me or do the english voices seem a bit off like they couldn't be bothered still it'll have the japanese voices so it doesn't matter
Cant Wait for the Demo so we can Test it our Selves and see if we want it or not But other than that i'm impressed with the Game and i'm loving what i see ~T-MAc~
They are recycling same old thing 10 years, every thenkaichi has same kinda thing gameplay, graphics are good here, but that's not the reason why should we play it or not.. :o
