A good first attempt, but far too short. :(

For 16 years, fans of anime in America wanted a real game based on the characters who appeared in "Dragonball" and "Dragonball Z" to debut in America, more than anything else in the world. In 2002, fans like myself finally got their wish fulfilled! "Dragonball Z: the Legacy of Goku" was the first step towards ending years of injustice of not getting what Japan had in terms of getting great "Dragonball Z" based video games. Yet for what this game had to do, the attempts still came up a bit short. I mean, it's definitely better by a long shot than what America called "Dragon Master" on the NES, or any of the three half-a**** Playstation ports that came out of Japan from 1995-1997. But it's still not masterpiece quality. For one thing, the game feels a little rushed. It only covers Goku's side of the story from the beginning of the Saiyan saga to the end of the Freeza saga, and some things were altered/added in order to try to make the game a bit longer and more exciting. Also, the flying mechanics felt like they were tacked on and were superficial at best. And the music wasn't up to par as far as later "Dragonball Z" games would be. Even though there was no real English based experience to base what "Dragonball Z" was capable of, this game didn't do everything that it could've done. It's a good experience, however short it is. But buy it at bargain priced or rent it, it's a better use of money. That's my review and I'm sticking to it! Enough said! ;)
