This is everything that the original DBZ:SB wasn't, from playability to characters.

If you have played the first installment of Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai, then this shouldn't be a huge step foward, but there is definitely a noticeable difference in gameplay and a little bit in new media as well. Well, first things first: graphics. The graphics are basically the same as the first DBZ but it looks like they put a little more effort in the backgrounds than the last time around. The character animations are pretty good and movements are smoother than the first, which is good. The sound quality hasn't changed AT ALL. I mean they added a few more grunts and yells (for the new characters, duh), and maybe a few more songs, but overall, it's nothing new. There are also only 3 more levels than last time, which I think really sucks and they should have added like 5 more. The most notable achievement in this game, is the vast majority of characters. They have added about 8 or 9 more characters in this game. This is a BIG improvement, since last time there was only a pitiful 14 characters (not including upgrades). They have also given old characters a few new moves, like the Kaoken Kamehameha. Customization seems to be one of their big leaps as well. They could have made it better, but I would definitely have this instead of only having 3 bars of life for EVERY character. It really doesn't doesn't darastically change any specific assets though. Also, the only new media is the challenge mode, which really isn't all that great by itself, but at least they tried. In challenge mode, you have to win a battle with certain rules or restrictions, like you can't use the Ki button or something, but that's pretty much it. Overall, I think this is DEFINITELY better than the first installment of Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai, and if you can't decide between Another Road and Shin Budokai, this is way better than the original. SO GET THIS ONE!
