As for a Dragon Ball game, it lacks characters you can play with. As card game, lacks in tactics.

Usually I think it over twice before getting a game based on some Japanese animation, and that is a game I´ve spent enough time playing to buy myself. But it´s not a complete waste! Some concepts works well but I think the producers could have put a little more effort on it.
The first thing that made me try this game was the board game plus card game concept. I´m kind of sick of fighting Dragon Ball games. As a board game with card game I though I would have to use my brain a little more, but I was badly mistaken. Walk around the board grows old after the first board. In fact You must fight a random encounter almost every turn, but I´ll get to the fighting part later. As for now, to move on the board you have to calculate at most How many moves you will take to make to the checkpoint with as less as random encounters as possible.
To move you´ll use cards that have three attributes: How much you will walk with it, your odds to prevent a random encounter and an action you perform before moving.
When you end moving, you are to find an enemy trying to fight you. Luckily you have the odd of that card selected to move to prevent the battle. Here´s a thing: the animation takes to long. If you can´t escape the battle at first you will see a couple of animations before entering the battle. If you can prevent it, you will see another bunch.
Now let´s move to the battle. Here the thing is, you can only attack if you have a card that has the ability "attack". Besides it, any card can be used to defend. Some cards can be used to acquire some advantage during battles, but as far as I played, the enemies just keep attacking harder or lighter, so it´s quite easy to defeat them. Besides it, there are those animation scenes issues again. You´ll see an animation to take new cards, an animation right after you select a card then another selecting the card, another to compare your card with the card the enemy played, another to say witch card won, another to get into the attack scene, another to the attack, another to show who was hit, another to show the life bar depleting and then it starts over. First: You can´t skip any of the animations here. Second, the life bar is just a bar. There´s no number or anything, just the yellow bar becoming red.
Now to the level up part. As you grow old on defeating enemies, you will eventually get some level ups. The fact is that you will get a random capsule to select or discard. Each capsule has a color that says what it will affect. You can pick it or discard it. You also may discard up to 5 capsules. But sometimes you will not find any capsule worth spending your level up on, or worst! You may get all the capsules with the same color.
The only thing left is the plot. Based on the original Dragon Ball Z stories, You can play as Goku, Gohan, Picolo and further as Vegetta. If you´ve watched the Dragon Ball Z series, you may not find it interesting to go over all the story. Luckily here you can skip, or you can watch it all over again if you didn't get bored yet.
