The transition from 2d to 3d fails completely, and the result is a half-broken game.

User Rating: 6 | Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi PS2
As a fan of DBZ, I had to try Tenkaichi, despite the mediocre reviews. For once, I have to admit that the reviews were on the mark. 3d would work well for DBZ, but here they have done it horribly, resulting in a half broken game. Budokai 3 is ten times the game this is.

Gameplay: 6
The worse thing about the game is the monotonous gameplay. IT revolves around locking on and flying towards the opponent. Attacking him with melee attacks, charging, and then doing ki attacks to deplete his health. Problem is, there are some very cheap attacks, like power rushes, and the beam attacks - which should be more powerful - are easy to dodge. There is hardly any variety between the characters, resulting in boring fights.

The story mode is bad, its too short and uninteresting, and after that there isn't much to do. Overall you'll get bored of this game quickly, and only hardcore DBZ fans will play this game again after finishing it.

Tilt: 5
Music is bad, and the story - a retelling of the orgiinal seriies - is done horribly.

Overall, you'll get bored of Tnekaichi quickly. Just go get Budokai 3, its a much better game. The gameplay here is too simplistic for my taste, though it may be OK for DBZ fans just looking for a casual brawl.
