Awesome game, but doesn't quite scratch the itch.

When I heard they were making another battle based Dragon Ball Z Budodakai game, the first thing that came to mind was...hmmm....it's basically going to be the last game with a few more added characters. Which is basically what the franchise has done. Each and every time we have to fork out 49.99 for it, we're basically paying full price for what to me seemed of been expansion worthy. All the really should have done was to stick with the formula that was presented to us in Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 and gaves us every damned character imaginable. Hell, I prolly would have eventually played as the Ox-King if he was an edition to the game. Don't get me wrong, I love Dragon Ball Z, and that is mainly the reason why I've been willing to fork out the dough for these games. Yes, their terrific games, but this one didn't quite hit the spot, if you know what I'm saying. As I said, don't get me wrong, its nearly perfect but here is the list of things I like and find absolutely redundant in this game.

The Good along with the Bad:
-1-Graphics
The graphics are great, Goku looks like Goku, Vegeta looks like Vegeta, you get the picture. One flaw if I had to mention would be the aura that surrounds them when they power up, they lack that pure glow from the show if you know what I mean.

-2- Modes/Half Decent
It's good, alot better than the last games attempt to bring Shenron back from his comatose syndrome. I like that it expands through out Dragon Ball Z to GT, but it doesn't quite tie together well, but still, you can't ask for everything I suppose. The ending of the story mode seemed a bit rushed, as though the team was attempting to meet the deadline. One my personal favorite modes in the game is the Ranking and character building mode. I enjoyed racking up the experience, but eventually gets old.

-3-Characters
As I said, its got plenty for you to choose from, but it doesn't quite cover all the grounds. Where the hell is the Evil Dragons? GT Trunks and Gohan? Hell, where is the nerdy Gohan? One of my personal favorites, future Gohan when he battled the androids, I loved the look lol.

-4-Where's the online play?

-5- Sound
The Good: The music is great, it sound Dragon Ball Z, but they should of incorporated the actual fight music from the American Dragon Ball Z cartoons along with it. Other then that, I'm fine with the music

The Bad
I'm glad they actually gave us sound in the game, but is it me, or does the ol' Kamehame ha seem to be said after Goku launches it? or when Frieza shoots his Death Ray, he says it right when it hits you? They didn't seem to eager to work on that part of the game at all. The actual only on key blast sound is when Master Roshi lets one lose, other then that, it isn't all that great.

Don't get me wrong I'm fully aware of the Ping issues that Sony has and the fact that this game is a pretty fast and intense game, but where the hell is the online mode? They could have at least scrapped one together for us. If we suffered because of our opponent lagging our fight, then so be it. We'll most likely have a few good ones here and there. As I said, this is still a great game. I still enjoy it, but one the over all bad things about this game is you can't sit down with a friend who's never played it and expect a night of fun. It has a steep learning curve, but once you can get some one groomed then this game is up there with Halo's Multiplayer
