"Great for fans, mediocre for the rest."

User Rating: 8 | Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 PS2
Gameplay: So they added more characters (over 100), new game modes, the ability to transform and in game fusion, but they forgot one thing: Fighting mechanics. The game give you a lot more freedom than any fighting game ever did. In BT I never had to use the radar, even though the stages were big but not big enough to actually hide from your opponent, this time you can actually use the huge environment to your advantage. But the fighting engine itself is still lacking real depth. You can win just about any battle by gathering energy and unleashing your biggest fireball. The game lacks in the defense department. Dodging and blocking become really frustrating, sometimes its just impossible to avoid an energy attack or break a combo. Many will say but this is a DBZ simulator not a serious fighting game, I understand that but I just can't give it a higher score simply because the game gets boring quickly. My score-5

Game modes & Extras: In terms of game modes and replay value DBZBT2 does an excellent job. The new, improved story mode is much better than last year's and will entertain you for hours. Other game modes like tournament and customizing your fighters are there as well. If you can get past the simple fighting mechanics, the game has lots of things to offer. My score-10

Visuals: Dragon Ball Z BT2 looks great, it mimics the show's feel perfectly. The characters are cel shaded once again, but they are much crisper than they did in BT. The stages are two times bigger than they were in BT, and fully destructible. The frame rate never drops, running at a steady pace. Special attacks like Kamehameha and Beam Cannon are even more impressive than before. My score-9

Audio: As usual the game features voices from the anime series. The music is energetic, and many of the tracks are familiar from the TV show. I have no problem with this department. My score-8

Buy/Rent: If you have played and enjoyed BT than you know what to expect. This is simply a copy of BT with more characters, modes, extras etc but the core remains the same. If you never played BT, then RENT this first, unless you're a blind DBZ fan like me. My final score-8
