Shaun shows off some new gameplay for Dragon Ball Z HD Collection from Comic-Con 2012.
I used to love these games. But now I'm kinda tired of the 1 versus 1 format. I'd like to be able to play with more at a time, somehow.
such a weird choice of games to include in my opinion. why put budokai 1 together with 3. pretty much everybody will only play BK3 out of this bundle. would have made more sense to put budokai 3 and tenkaichi 3 in one bundle and everybody is happy. But thats just how i look at it, feel free to correct me if im missing something in my trail of thought....
@super_csa You're absolutely right. I came to same conclusion but I guess it's because they already have a wii port and the graphics weren't too shabby so they probably decided not to, although I hope they would've.
@bgna8980 Maybe so, but isn't the whole point behind it to make it available for ps3 and 360 users? I mean even from a selling point of view, there are a lot of people who prefer the tenkaichi series and won't get this bundle because of that fact. Including BK3 and BKT3 would still just seem more logical to me...
@super_csa I know what you mean and what you say is 100% true if I get the collection why would I even consider playing budokai 1 there is only one incentive and its maybe the story mode, its way too outdated.......I'd rather just buy a digital copy of budokai 3 alone on the psn store which I doubt they would do
@bgna8980 Ah, I believe you just found the missing link in my way of thought. It seems to me now as if they were planning more than one HD collection from the start in the hope that most fans will buy all (get even more cash out of them). Cause let's face it, BK 1 is really just in this package to justify a $40(?) price tag but nobody will play or need it since BK3 is the same just like 100 times better... :/
@super_csa To be honest I preferred the tenkaichi series more as well, with the destructible environments, free roaming and the ability to fly whenever you like all of which made the game more fun.....but I still liked the budokai series but yeah I understand what you are saying it is really going to turn off many people. They also said that if this is deemed a success they'll think about doing more hd collections in the future hopefully tenkaichi hd collection.
Im so happy these are coming out on PS3 now. These were so much better than the Tenkaichi games!
oh yeah and how bout a decent character creation feature where u can be totally original and not just have different combinatins of in game character traits
i got an idea how about a dbz fighting game with every serious fighting character from the entire series a tenkaichi 2 style story mode but with real cutscenes and get this ur able to switch between fighting mods yeah u can choose whether u want to fight in the tenkaichi 360 degree environment or the basic 2D 3D movement fighting style and which ever one u choose the button config changes to that games original stylehow awesome would that be
i heard that budokai 1 and 3 were gonna be on this but i didn't know they were gonna put tenkaichi 3 on it as well or is that a fake image over therei am certinally gonna get thisstill think burst limit just needed better cutscenes and a longer story moderaging blast two would have been perfect but why no story mode and no gt charactersand ultimate tenkaichi.........don't even get me started
I played the hell out of budokai 3 and 1 when i was younger but it looks like a it has budokai tenkaichi 3 as well. Either way I'm stoked
I think they're Just making an hd game this year cuz they're building up for a sick game next year!!
I am going to have to pick this game up whean it comes out.if its not full of glitches like some of the other HD remakes
Whats sad is the HD versions of these past games are superior to all the recent next gen Dragon Ball games, except for Dragon Ball Burst Limit, which was actually a lot of fun.

@Mr_Sweeetness Chill dude. lol. I've played and collected all the dbz's since final bout. I'm just saying that they should chill on this for another year and instead make a new like budokai 4 or a tenkaichi 4. dont be so harash on your comments dude relax a little. plus adding afew new character to budokai and stage would be nice.
this has no reason to exist.... love dbz they should just lets dbz breath for a few years first
Yes the nostalgia has returned. I think these people were smart returning this game to today's generation of gaming. Most importantly they kept the fighting gameplay mechanic, look, and feel intact and really well kept. The HD addition to the game expresses how brand new and fresh the game has been revived to be. Its true that in the interview the details were not to deep but who could blame them, they just started putting the game together.
I understand why they didn't put budokai 2 in the mix. It was the "odd one out" in the series is my opinion. Yes it was budokai 1 sequel yet it completely lost the originality of its predecessor in many ways with the graphics, slightly changed fighting gameplay, and big time story line alterations. I understand that they were trying to set things to the next level in the series but In my opinion they may have overdone it to a point where it became almost a completely different game. This doesnt apply to dbz alone, there has been many title sequels ive seen that could never be or never was as good as the first installment.
Budokai 3 was what I call the "recovery of a recession". Budokai 3 turned things around alot. Looking at budokai 2 I guess the developers decided to strip down their previous work and add more intensity to the 3rd installment. The cel shaded graphics were watered down, teleportation smashes, hyper mode, rush mode, new character additions, story line newly added. All of those additions was budokai 2's wake up call and as a result it became really popular. "Third times the charm" that's exactly what I can say about the third game, its a charmer. I look forward to seeing more of this collection.
If I were apart of the developers who made this game I would totally merge the 2 games keep budokai 1 graphics and menu, while everything else is budokai 3 stuff involving gameplay, story, etc.
Budokai 3 was definitely the best fighter out of all of the "Z" games, but it doesn't look like there's much incentive as far as new additions go. Maybe the online will make up for it. But as long if its not got a new game price I would definitely pick it up
