Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 is a vast improvement over the original in almost all aspects.

First and for most,Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 is a great game.It improves on the original in just about everything.Graphics wise,Budokai 2 looks great using a shell-shaded design on each of its character models. The levels look a lot prettier in this one too, because of the added shell-shading.The character models also look a lot sharper, and really, the whole game looks like a colorful comic book.

The sound track retains the same type of music from both the cartoon and the original Budokai. You still get the same up beat music including the DBZ theme music. The voice acting is once again well-done by the voice cast and remains identical to the show and Budokai 1.

The story mode is probably the most broken thing about the game.It basically runs on a 2 dimensional game board.Thats right,a game board where you move your characters and take turns. Its really boring and just breaks up the action in a bad way.It ranges from the Saiyan Saga,to the Buu Saga. Its not really a lengthy game, but it may take a while to complete.

The game play is identical to the original's,but it does add the addition of fusion and a bigger character roster with more of your favorites to boot. The addition of fusion is pretty cool, but it doesn't have much depth to it.Its as simple as mashing a combo, and there you go.The character roster has also increased in size with more characters, which is all good.Over all though, the game play is identical to the original, but it has improved.

So what are some of the terrible aspects about the game?Well some of the characters can feel a bit over powered, and the shell-shading isn't done entirely correctly on some of the characters, which can look a little weird. Those are really all my complaints.

Final verdict:The game is a blast to play, and one of my favorite DBZ games, but I still recommend this only to avid fans of the show.
