New York Comic-Con 09: Dragon Age: Origins Demo (Xbox 360)

This looks nothing like what I was expecting... It looks way to technical, not fluid at all. After watching the trailor's I was hoping maybe for gameplay slightly similar to that of Oblivion, even if it wasnt in first person. Well, I feel a little unsure of this game now, again, the trailors are a massive over exageration of what we can expect from the game itself. P.S, Mass effect was awesome, everything it made itself out to be.

Agreed with Phantasy16, Mass Effect was good, but BG and Kotor (especially Kotor, that's my favorite series of all time) are so much better. Can't wait.

If this really is the sucessor to Balders Gate then i can't wait. I didnt enjoy Mass Effect half as much as i enjoyed Baulders Gate and Kotor.

looks like a good game, nice graphics i just hope that the RPG elements in it match up - equipment, buying and selling, lvling, combat it's about time we had a decent RPG that combines a good story with strong graphics and is fun to play

I think the combat looks pretty much reminiscent to Baldur's Gate at times which is never bad, but I also see they have added a few things of their own. It's really looking like a promising game and I am definitely looking forward to it. :D

I hope they give you the option of not having those bright a__ yellow circles around the characters - at least tone them down!

Utterly incorrect. They are exactly what is needed now. The RPG genre has taken a nose dive in last few years. Too much action RPG. The genre needed a throwback to Baldurs Gate 2 badly and who better to do it than Bioware- well, maybe Interplay but they aren't around any more.

But there not wanted now and I have found out its not a turned based game. It has real time combat. So maybe it will be good after all.

@ GodDemon It never pretended to be anything else, any D&D game that's ever been released is turn based at heart, and they've been some of the best RPGs to grace the genre. Turn based RPG = true RPG = epic.

It's a team-based and turned based game..all the epicness of it has just gone down the drain as those games are now dead.

Of course this game isnt for everyone. If you say you are looking for Gears of War 3, this isnt for you, while people who like this game might not like Gears of War 3. Just because you arent a fan of the genre doeosnt mean you should come in and bash the video

very good graphics and effects by the genre. bioware will do their best i'm sure. i will purchase it when it will be released. but what is the release date? i'm sure i've read on somewhere march, but some says it will be released in november. i'm confuse.

Very NWN with a prominent Gothic influence, this looks like it can be played in many ways and appeal to a massive audience. I'm really looking forward to this but just worried about the controls =/

Immpressive but not what I'm looking toward, plus GoW3 comes out october hopefully not getting pushed back which it will most likely.

Eh, dont understand ppls reactions to this video. Why are ppl saying this is just a simple point and click game, and let the auto attack kill the mob. Do they fail to see the large action bar at the bottom? the RTS element to it? If you've ever played one of these games like NWN, you know thats its not the truth.

----KOTOR with a fantasy costume on is a GOOD thing. Bioware games never disappoint with gameplay, which is great and theres lots of it.---- I don't agree. It's been done before twice (KoToR and KoToR 2), therefor the gameplay won't be interesting.

Mass Effect was a great game, but it had really sucky and unsatisfying combat. This combat style is perfect for the genre, even though i don't care for it and won't be picking it up as a result. Sometimes i slather teriyaki sauce all over my balls.

One thing I hate: the "miss" sign that pops up when you're attacking an enemy. Mass Effect's combat was fun, a step forward - this looks a bit like a step backwards. I guess I'll wait and see, but not loving this combat demonstration. The story will probably still be top notch though...

mass effect was one of the best games ever. this is not mass effect. clicking on something and waiting for it to die sounds like another world of warcraft crapfest mindlessly killing 12 red hide wolves or somethin stupid. find 16 naga eyeballs. WHY DOES IT TAKE LIKE 10 KILLS TO FIND 1 EYEBALL! HOW CAN THEY SEE WITHOUT EYES! GODDAMMIT!

@ bredeyabo No offense bredeyabo, but I have no idea why Diablo is even labeled as RPG in the first place when it should go under the Action-Adventure genre. There is so little depth to the game progression, in fact it is one of the fore-runners to introduce and glorify the concept of grinding pointlessly.

combat system looks really dull. Look at the movement its all robotic like. Yeah I know YEAH I know they are still developing it. Doesn't matter if your going to show a DEMO, then it should look good.

Looks like a fantasy based Mass Effect to me. Def. going to be worth checking out. Anything by Bioware is worth checking out. One thing ive always hated about these kinds of games though; you notice how theyre running through the tower taking down individuals while there are other enemies skulking in the corner? Why? Why would the bad guys sit there, when your clearly in LOS, and let you kill their mates without intervening? FO 3 was like that. Youd be able to sneak about, shoot someone in the head right in front of another enemy and the dude thats alive wouldnt even blink twice.

This kind of combat really worked for the old Baldur's Gate games because it didn't clash with the 2D graphics. But seeing the same click and eat a sandwich kind of combat really kills the game for me. After experiences real time medieval like combat, and I'm not just bashing this game because of Oblivion, it just seems dumbed down to go back to that kind of combat system. I will end up playing it somehow though. I can sit here and complain the whole time but if Bioware makes it I at least have to try it.

I hate the woman's outfit at the start and the ring's around the character's. Graphic's look way outdated. Look's like another boring dungeon crawl I hope i'm wrong.

...it's a little worrying to hear someone trying to make a big deal over very basic things. Same for the focus on the character's origins, I'd much rather have them work more on what I can become (besides a hero/ambivalent jackass/villain for once) than dragging up my backstory constantly. Especially since we only choose our origin story instead of playing it, making it so all the past events the NPCs reference are going to be emotionally irreverent to me. Add it to that Gaider's normally black/white moral choices and Dragon Age turns out to be just another forgettable rpg. But this is just speculation, so here's hoping I'm wrong.
