Check out the dwarf in action!
woot first post in 2010
i hope that we can create the main character we use u know like/ changing skin color/hair style/hair color/eyes color/change the face and a lot more... would be pretty awesome don't you guys agree with me... if you do put thumbs up. peace homies
I don't think I've ever seen a dwarf without a beard, and I've never ever heard one with the voice of someone from California
I get the impression some people won't be happy till all fantasy RPG's look like WoW, me personally i think as long as its got a good story and game-play that works, then I'll play it.
so? who is the commander then? little dude at the end walking with his pajamas ? = ) game looks very promising though, if they had managed to make a good plot
hahahahahahahahah blllloooood ..................love it
was everyone in that vid a dwarf or are dwarves tall in the world of DA? =/
i wouldnt call dante's inferno an RPG.
Im thinking of buying a medeival kind of RPG and its either this demons souls or dantes inferno... And arent they kind of over doing it with the blood?...
Beards.. axes.. Dwarven archer with no beard - that's thinking out of the box! =) Seruously though, I'm tired of fantasy cliches. Way to go, Bioware. DO:A is promising to be a great game.
yeah I agree with doometernity its better to be original than the same old corprate run of the mill crap thats been done over and over. If you want LOTR the play that game. Its nice to have something fresh.
jeez, since when is originality criticized so much?
Oh no! They messed up all my fictional characters! I must now talk badly about things in the game that I have not yet experienced because I just know they will be terrible!
@creed190 you can customize your character and give him a beard if you want, also what makes you an expert on dwarf distinction?
bring on the gore
but the dwarves should atleast have beards thats what makes them dwarves and not midgets
why have people marked my comment up and SlochLin comment down?...we're basically saying the same thing....i really don't understand that
Granted the dwarf vid is a bit lame - the human one is way better imo - but LOTR is not the yardstick for all fantasy, as many writers and ppl with imaginations are around so many interpretations of fantasy creatures will exist. Why not enjoy this realm for itself and LOTR for itself because at the end of the day... [sp0iler alert]... its only a game! o.O
@Fumpa: the reason the characters don't have the typical fantasy look/style is because this isn't a typical fantasy game...i dont see why so many people have to b**ch about this game not being exactly the same as every other rpg.
I agree with you proadam. The dwarves don't have the typical dwarf look. I think that the characters don't look all that cool in this game, humans included. That one sex scene involves a girl that isn't that hot, and a lot of the humanoid characters don't have that fantasy look/style that is typical of all fantasy games. At least that's how I see it. Hopefully you'll be able to make a barbarian character, and he won't end up looking like some buffed up GQ yuppie with perfectly styled hair. I want the wild Conan look for the barbarian.
God...could EA have made it anymore obvious that they wanted blood and gore? sigh... it's way overdone just from what im seeing in this video. The dwarves look too human-like imo.
@Mr_Silent_D Fine then these are the most lamest dwarfs ever XP(at least at appearance)
@ DarkArchon this game is not LoTR. so why should the dwarfs in Dragon Age be anything like the ones in LoTR?
Are those dwarfs? man they look uglier then gnomes. watt about the dense bearded, barbaric, Mine Dwarfs like in LoTR ?
looks cool, but I agree that they can do something more realistic out of the gore/blood feature.. allthough off course this i not a game based on realism.. I will watch how it turns out, maybe buy it. love RPG's
Can't see the movie because of "Waiting for ad.uk.doubleclick.net", which means you need to have nasty cookie on your PC to watch the movie... Just google 'doubleclick'
@ raynSpear Yeah, I am a bit. I have a hard enough time trying to convince my friends and family that gaming is a respectable entertainment medium without blood flying everywhere. That's not to say I won't still get this game if the rest of it looks awesome and fun, like all the previous Bioware games I've played. Just, I won't play it in front of people. Edit: Umm, I don't know how to put in smilies or paragraph breaks in, apparently. Sorry.
seems all the demo video is about combat, is there any non combat demo video i.e; character/environment interaction, exploring the game worlds?
Surprisingly bloody and adult, it would seem. But this is Bioware, and a compelling theme and story Bioware would present.
It is the style of the game. To those that think this game is only going to be about blood and gore, you're insulting Bioware. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
@ Kuroi_Ryu 'I'd be kind of embarrassed to be seen playing it' Wow self conscious at all there buddy?
I dunno, am I the only person who thinks this game looks kind of... stupidly bloody? Really, if you hit someone across the chest while they're wearing full metal armor, does a cloud of blood really puff out of them? I mean, cutting off an arm or a leg would cause lots of spurting blood, yeah, but otherwise? Maybe not so much. The way it looks to be in the videos, parts of this game are just gorn, and I'd be kind of embarrassed to be seen playing it.
Wow, how bloody!
A dwarf with cornrows, how pimp!
Idonyo, agreed. they ruined it for spore. i just hope great story will come over this :)
The only thing that could keep this game from being great is if EA decides to gimp it with some really lame install limits or active Internet connection requirement. Unfortunately, I wouldn't put either past them.

To address some of the comments below, remember this is a brand new world BioWare has created. So Dwarves in this world might not follow typical conventions as shown in LOTR, WoW, D&D, etc. And I like it that way. No more cookie-cutter races.
why i don't see any dwarf with a long, norsed type beard like "Lord of the ring", or in the game Disciple 2 , why , where is their beard
This vid is prolly bit old. My guess when the game comes out we will stand with our mouths open trying NOT to droll :P . None the less lets keep the genres defined: WoW is an MMO-RPG, this is an RPG. (i.e. WoW=/=DA:O)
I dont think the graphics are that bad. Hell Prototype just came out with high end PS2 graphics and it did well. I think it will be similar to Baldur's Gate. The backgrounds will be beautiful and the characters will get a little choppy especially during large battles. I like that though if the gameplay is solid, graphics can suffer.
That dwarf didn't have the generic Scottish accent of most dwarves. I'm still pondering over whether or not this is a good thing.
And fight style is plays like an MMO. I Didn't mean i was a massive online game. It just plays like one. Ever Play Baldur's Gate. Thats what this will play like.
didn't say WoW looked better. meant WoW is a good game just looks like crap.
Im sorry mook-the-man, but how exactly does WoW look better than what we just saw?
can you play online on this game ?
@mook-the-man this is not an MMO it is purely single-player, which is better in my opinion.
WoW is an open world MMO and its one of the most player games in the world. And guess what? The game looks like absolute crap.
ok this is going to be a good game. I know people are all into great graphics now and all that but this is a huge open world MMO!!! You cannot expect the graphics to be amazing and for limbs to come off at will. Also its not like the characters are 100% controlled by the player and you have a complete say in their fighting style. In an MMO the character attacks to deal damage, the visuals do not matter because if you score a hit it does damage.
Blood and Guts... That it?
