Just installed XFX6870 and 555 cpu I am good...I can run anything I need to and less than $300 after rebate... Newegg Rules!!!

franci17 5 pts

That type of card is useless nowdays because we got console based games that doesnt have too much graphics to offer, with a US$120.00 card you can beat all the games with better graphics than the consoles...

ashugtiwari 5 pts

if you are a graphics and game developer go and get this card my hd4650 even runs smooth & cool with no lag in games. instead of purchasing a card for $600, its better to get a console ps3/xbox360 for $300 with motion controller

i believe the card has some real power however 3 monitor setup is not whats on peoples wish list. And no ones gonna go buy a 600 dollar video card and 3 monitors to play games nowadays because either they dont have the money to make the guys at AMD rich'er or they're out of work. Or its just because having one big monitor rather then 3 monitors is probably better.

scoots9 5 pts

@mononker The resolution of the tv would be far lower than even one of those monitors, let alone 3.

enzo2606 5 pts

For $599 you can buy both PS3 & Xbox 360 without any compatibility problems. Directx 11 is great, but how many games you think would take full advantage of it in the next 2 years at least. Three monitor... Do you really need them?.... You need to spend at least, another $2,500 in hardware to really take full advantage of ATI 5970..... I am wondering... Playing consoles like ps3 and 360 do not give you great gaming experience with a huge saving...

My rig BTW: MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD7 CPU: Intel Core i7-975 Extreme Edition @ 4.2 GHZ w/ ZALMAN CNPS9900LED (Best I could do on air, will be an i9 in January ;) ) VGA: XFX HD-597A-CNB9 Radeon HD 5970 Black Edition 2GB @ 850MHz CORE/1.2GHz MEM (Conservative OC due to VRM constraints, considering aftermarket cooling) RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR-GT 12GB (6 x 2GB) DDR3 2000 HDD: Corsair P128 128GB SATA II MLC SSD X 2 RAID 0 (OS), Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB 7200 RPM X 6 RAID 5+1 (Storage) OPTICAL: Pioneer Blu-ray Burner Model BDR-205BKS PSU: Antec TPQ-1200 1200W CASE: Antec Twelve Hundred DISPLAY: LG W3000H-Bn Black 30" X 3

I have been enjoying eyefinity on my hd5970 for quite some time now, and what you have to keep in mind is that each display is operating at its respective native resolution. So you could have one large television/projection screen with no borders, but you will probably only be gaming @ 1920X1080; whereas with my hd5970 on 3X30" displays I am gaming @ (2560*3=7680) x 1600. Now, with that being said, I paid an exorbitant amount for my rig, and yes, Crysis is reduced to a slide show @ 7680 x 1600. :'-(

mononker 5 pts

For the price of three monitors and a huge desk I could buy myself an HD projector and screen, or a big ass tv!!! who the hell wants borders all over the place ???

profileap600 5 pts

You would need the equivalent of a double wide trailer house to mount that card in.lol Too bad I do not see any reason to upgrade. 3-monitor support is useless and it probably ruins gameplay. If they made monitors without borders I might actually consider.

What was the whole purpose of that? They showed a GPU costing 600 bucks which the guy makes it sound like pocket change, played games on 3 MASSIVE monitors which im sure everyone has atleast 2 sitting around, and showed Dragon Age Origins which isnt anything out-of-this world graphics wise.

wolf1015 5 pts

isnt one monitor enough to play the game...y the hell do u need three....:???...

Gooshnads 5 pts

can i just keep my 8800 GT? -.-

halo2_4_pc 8 pts

Wow, why would someone pay $600 for a graphics card? I just paid $165 for my new ATI 5770 and it plays games at great settings.

EliteEdifier 6 pts

that bald guy seem doesnt interest at all..

Killer_ghost101 5 pts

599 he says it like everyone has that just for pocket change lol

GameHole 5 pts

Wow... that's big! Size really does matter!

Orledjro 5 pts

I have always only gamed with one monitor, as well as most people in the market, so as far as their new technology goes I don't think it can match Nvidia's physics. There won't be as many people looking for that in the market. Other then that though it's got power and I can hardly wait for the 300 series to come out to match it.

Geek12 6 pts

If the PC game market can prove itself worth, then the games will get better and better. Move developers and publishers will be will to take the plunge.

krisroe_213 6 pts

How many people play on two or more monitors? Seriously. You're right nvr2fs, these companies need to invest more into pc gaming, they're getting way ahead of themselves here. All that power for poor quality ports. Sure it's nice to look at, but I only need to play on one monitor.

nvr2fst 5 pts

As the cards continue to ramp up and get faster and faster, PC games are getting worse. They are going to the consoles. As I said before these cards will be useless. You wont need anything faster than the latest console because all we get are ports anymore.I have dished out at $500 or more for most of my cards over the years but that has stopped unless things change with PC gaming. It isnt going to happen. Hardware manufacturers need to invest in PC games or there higher end cards and such wont have any market any more.

Geek12 6 pts

This demonstration was a bit unnerving... I mean it was beautiful, and i want one now, but i just don't feel that this is the right direction for pc gaming. To put it in laymans terms, if you (ATI, NVidia, etc) wanna beat the consoles, you have to design things smaller, faster, and cooler. Ok, we have the fast part down that's not problem for even a 100 dollar card right? The problem is that these cards require so much! What if the company took it in a.. I hate to say... Casual... Direction. I mean don't hold back on the power, but make something affordable, cheap, and something that can be fit into a regular computer that you might find at best buy so that the average user can begin to take steps into PC gaming, instead of being thrown into a slurry of cards, numbers, etc.

TheJamin 5 pts

@ alistervk that's the idea behind "fusion" i believe. Nvidia also want that market but intel keep sueing them. GPU's actually make better CPU's

wowwow27 42 pts

holy shnikes! 3 monitors, i cant even get games to run on two monitors in vista!!!! do you need special OS or somthin?

alistervk 5 pts

@treydawg1 Dude this is an epic card .

treydawg1 5 pts

@alistervk dude the stuff you just mentioned is all epic ideas.

alistervk 5 pts

I think this is a gr8t card but maybe AMD should spend more time on there CPU'S and a little less time on such huge GPU'S .(Holy COW your GPU is so big). I wait for the day when they make the first CPU with there GPU on the same die + North bridge and Ram all running at full clock speed . Oh yes excellent idea about the monitors having no frames and held together with clips. Also you could put them on the wall to and have a large digital picture frame . Maybe when your lady comes to visit you have this nice cosy fire with romantic music playing on your 5:1 surround sound.

ravenguard90 5 pts

Considering that this card is equal to two 5850's, the price is sort of justified for the performance you're getting. I'm not saying it's worth getting it since there are a plethora of cards out there that will get you more than enough performance for today's games, but in terms of price-to-performance, I think it's pretty much justified.

PoppyJerk 5 pts

The card is great and all, but there's no way I could afford it, and use it the way it's most effective. I can't afford the 600 dollar price tag by itself. Throw in the cost for a couple extra monitors (and I'd need a new desk to fit it all) and you've got yourself a broken bank.

ptown58 7 pts

Still waiting to see what Nvidia does (better be soon) ATI drivers dont sound like they have changed much.

TheJamin 5 pts

@yourmomykins lets see your CPU Z validation for your Q6600 @ 4ghz then! :P it can be done, but it's rare.

TheJamin 5 pts

@ MattyVonP you can get the panels without the seems. but they just arn't advertised as much.

Jshaw71 8 pts

how much s a pile of cash? in other words how is this thing? thanks for any info, looks nice, but i am sure i won't be able to afford this thing, sadly...

metalkid9 11 pts

that thing is just ridiculous. Dirt 2 had low fps though.

MattyVonP 5 pts

interesting having 3 displays. Maybe a monitor company will get wise and create monitors that can snap together without having the seams between each individual monitor. It's not too bad to have to put up with the seams, but I'd prefer not to have them.

Humorguy_basic 6 pts

@ treydawg1, maybe the card is 'energy efficient', but there's still a lot of energy being used. And you need hardware for when the PC is working the hardest, not the slowest, so I think you would need a 1,000kw PSU to run 3 monitors and this card and your sound card, etc. And the fact you had spent so much money on this gaming hardware, I would guess you spend most time on it playing games! But as I said, there's no need for it, as there will be no games that won't be able to be played pretty much max on a 4000 series card. It's graphics that demand power, and with 6 year old consoles and PC games converted from them, graphics are just not going to be there in any meaningful way for at least 2 years.Hence the graphics of Fallout 3 or Dragon Age.

chrissypoop 5 pts

$600 is a great price since its two 5870s in one card. They could easily have charged $800 without anyone who would buy it at $600 complaining.

CaptPerez 5 pts

great new toy for the colection...

yourmomykins 5 pts

@keith21uk Ive switched back and forth with ATI and NVIDIA and i came to a conclusion a while ago that ATI is the graphics card BUT not great for gaming because the engine isnt as good for performance. its not made to game but nvidia is. its great for gaming id rather have ati for gaming as long as its a good enough card that itll play games on full with good fps like my 4890 and im happy. even my friend who uses a gtx260 plays everything full also sees mine and says that it looks better and i know it because his graphics dont look as good with nvidia. but i havnt picked a side yet, i like both for them for what they are better for.

yourmomykins 5 pts

HAHAHA$600 thats such a rip off. I got my comp for about the same as that comp 2 months ago! and my g7,g15 and tiny 20'' monitor and some games for under 900bucks. every game is on full with super high fps. no reason to get this new. you would have to be stupid to get that now. ------------------------------- ATI HD48901GB/q6600 3.0Ghz c2q can go 4Ghz+/g7/g15/g25/5.1 surround/20'' LSD monitor/antec 900/huge gaming fans. under 1200bucks including $300 g25. Or else all under $900 without g25

Enthusiast cards, pfft, what a fat waste of money. I remember when the GF3 was considered an "Enthusiast" card, as well as the 9800GT, which was like 400 bones when it first came out. A few years later those cards turn into hand-me-downs and you kick yourself in the nuts wondering why you dropped so much money on this crap. I will never understand it. The best way to PC game is use mid-range stuff, this way when the hardware becomes obsolete, you feel like you got your moneys worth out of it, and no t ripped off. Of course, this is all entirely moot because money is relative. 600$ may be chump change for some people out there, so go far it.

jer_1 29 pts

$599 for this?! You have to be ******* kidding me.

treydawg1 5 pts

@Humorguy_basic actually the 5000 series es very energy effecient. more san than the 4000 series. a 5000 series wont start using any real amounts of energy untill a game is detected then it will ramp up.
