The Origin Stories were great, best part of the game. The rest felt like a tunnel-RPG written by committee...

I've played a lot of great CRPGs in my time -- the Baldur's Gate series, Eldar Scrolls, Fallout, Deus Ex, Arcanum, etc. -- and this isn't one of them. And it's a frustrating thing to explain why this game fall short...

Then the plot was interesting at first. Then, pretty much, totally clichéd and it felt like it was written by committee to not offend the parents of the average 12-year-old. For a game that was supposed to be for "mature" audiences, it wasn't written that way. It wasn't horrid writing. But it was boring writing.

Then I thought, it really reminds me of the Star Wars movies. The old movies were, despite the huge technical limitations, far far better than the modern, slick and boring new set. The game was just flat, like it was written by George Lucas and he had no more movies to steal from... All we needed was comic relief by Jar Jar Warden.. "Oh, watsa dat? Darkemspawn! Goink! Goink!"

Ultimately, the test always becomes REPLAY VALUE. A great CRPG engages you with the story and makes you want to play it again and again seeking different solutions with different characters, classes, out-looks and genders. This game didn't.

Rather, I put this game away a year ago and I've never gone back. The "it" factor wasn't there. Just like the "it factor" wasn't there for the last round of Star Wars movies. The old ones, limits and all, were far superior to the modern, slick sequels.
