Dragon Age: Origins - Witch Hunt User Review

Witch Hunt does not introduce very much original content nor does it expand very much on the character it is based on.

The Bottom Line:
"Disappointing"
In the ending of Dragon Age: Origins, the fate of the young witch, Morrigan, was clouded with mystery. Her objective and fate was never explained; adding to her usual mysterious demeanor. Witch Hunt, the last downloadable content for Dragon Ages, attempts to explain what had happened to her but, unfortunately, falls short of it's mark.

Players return to the lands of Ferelden with their Warden from their previous adventure with a new purpose - find Morrigan. Players are able to export their decisions from the previous game to influence the ending a bit more but this search is more personal than anything. If the player loved Morrigan, then they can pursue this; if they hated her, then they can join the hunt.

Whatever your choice, the Warden will be joined in their adventure by the dalish elf Ariane and the sheltered mage Finn. The Wardens dog, amply named Dog, also accompanies the party on this adventure.

Both characters are not expanded on greatly. But I enjoyed their company. The conversations of Ariane and Finn was pretty funny most of the time and they were sufficient in combat. Their intentions on joining, however, were a little odd though, as they both join for very vague reasons.

The overall plot of the DLC focuses around the magical Eluvian mirrors and players will journey to two locations to gather necessary ingredients. Players will return to the elven ruins and the deep roads in their quest. Unfortunately, there is not very much new content being introduced. The backgrounds seem to be reused and most of the enemies encountered were already there from Origins.

A new monster was introduced in this that is kind of a preview for what's to come. The boss was intimidating the first time around and it turned out to be a fun battle.

The DLC ends with a final meeting with Morrigan, which can end in four different ways. Sadly, very little is explained and the witch of the wilds' secrets remain hidden. Players will only see Morrigan for a very small amount of time as well and the four different meetings roughly end the same. This is very disappointing for a add on that is supposed to revolve around her.

The asking price for Witch Hunt, $7, probably isn't worth the little amount that this DLC introduces. Even diehard fans of this character will likely walk away disappointed about how little Morrigan was expanded.
