Inquisition is fun, but it’s not quite a masterpiece

User Rating: 7 | Dragon Age: Inquisition - Game of the Year Edition PC

Pros:

  • Very impressive graphics for 2014
  • Voice acting
  • Tie-ins to previous games
  • Court intrigue
  • Character and armor customization
  • Role playing
  • Massive maps
  • Some very interesting settings
  • Companion quests

Cons:

  • A good chunk of the game I was just trying to figure out what the hell was going on
  • Some enemies absorb waaay too many hits
  • Overall, I found the combat in the first two games to be more engaging
  • Some of the huge maps can get pretty repetitive

Nitpickey:

  • Never got on board with the whole “Inquisition” thing. I guess it’s justified by the Chantry, it just seemed like you were thrown into the “Inquisition” and there was so much emphasis on the word “Inquisition,” and when it came down to it was really just “big army. kill bad guys.”
  • Some of the war table expeditions take way too much time (15+ real world hours. Really?)

Rating:

  • Story ******* 7/10
  • Gameplay ****** 6/10
  • Atmosphere ******** 8/10
  • Overall ******* 7/10
