So my saves are totally useless if they aren't carrying my saves over, right? And can someone please explain to me what they mean by allowing our decisions to matter without our saves Does this mean they are going to run us through some comic book full of decisions just to start the game?

Maybe a comic book or some dialogue choices.

I think they'll just give us a series of questions at the start. This works better for me as I no longer have my saves.

But with a year until the release you could if you want. In fact, I have been waiting on the announcement and had planned on running through both of them again so I could really get into the story again, but with this news...I don't know if I will.

All they said was that they're investigating ways do import character choices without save files. That doesn't necessarily mean that using save files won't be an option.

I read somewhere that they didn't add the option in the second one to import from so if that is true then it wont be an option.

"Laidlaw also confirmed the ability for players to import their save files from the first two games into Dragon Age III to shore up world consistency. In addition the developers vowed to their fans that, compared to its predecessors, the decisions they made throughout the series will have a greater impact on the story and that the player will be given more control over their gaming experience."

So I should get my saves ready for next year?!

The saves were useless going into DA2. They retconned any death that wasn't convenient to them and anything left in order doesn't have much of an impact. I don't care anyway. This isn't a game where I'm taking my character forward like Mass Effect or Baldur's Gate.

    I agree completely.

I like the Mass Effect system, but I do not think that now every RPG series ever has to use the same system. It's okay to not import my saves.

They could do questionaire creatively if they wanted... for example, you could start by taking the role of a student centuries in the future, taking a history exam... You take the History exam and it asks questions like

    1. "The Hero of Fereldan stopped the blight by:
A: Sacrificing himself to defeat thee Arch Demon
    B. His friend Alistair volunteered to take the sacrifice in his stead
    C. The Hero of Riverdain took the sacrifice in his stead
    D. He found away to defeat the Archdemon without sacrificing a Warden

At the end of the exam, the child gets a 100% and then the real story begins with (Centuries before) Perhaps the teacher calls out the child's name, revealing that he is the descendant of one of the earlier characters.

Eh, not like your choices ever mattered to begin with

    This.

Saves were already pointless with ME2/3 and DA2.

Wait. So it's confirmed that everything you've done in the first two games won't matter?

I already deleted all my DAO and DA2 files.

    PERFECT way to do it.
Minus the story of the boy and exam, just ask the Q's and let us give the A's.

While I still want the ability to import saves, something like this would be really nice for people who either never had or lost their saves from previous games.
