Epic but buggy.

This game does have a certain alluring element to it. I generally play as the male rogue, but in the midst of just seeing what the game looked and felt like, I just pressed on passed the point of no return with the default male warrior creation...and ya know, I kinda liked it.

Very simple premise -- you and your family survive the previous blight and in the midst of running for safety, good ol Flemmeth to the rescue again...swoops you away and carries you off to safety for reasons unbeknownst to anyone. You get to town, and no one even wants you there in the first place, they are already overrun with refugees, so from there it's just a matter of the old fashioned "what can I do to help" scenario and before you know it you have missions upon missions stacking up, and you gradually make your way into being a Champion....and as it seems, you're either loved or hated by the various races.

You'll be very hard pressed for decision making in this game. It seems this epitomizes the old concept of "when one's wish comes true, another one's heart is broken." Merely giving one a chance seems to be the difference between war and peace....all it bottles down into is which side of the table do you want to be sitting when the war happens.

Definite replayability, judging simply by the list of trophies I have to assume I must have missed a significant chunk. Or perhaps that was just the aforementioned other end of the table, who knows....Also a huge opening was left for a sequel...

Now my complaints -- you get a trophy for changing your companions equipment...that being said, I'll be damned if I could find out where to find these items. You can give them all belts, rings and amulets and what not, but no serious gear....my complaint on this is this makes it impossible to unequip your female companions and have them run around in their skeevies with blood splattered on them. Haha, but seriously....

BUGS BUGS BUGS -- The action button needed some fine tuning, I could be pressed up against a "Door" pointing toward it with the direction, and I hit X, and Hawke......takes out his sword...annoying....but even worse -- FMV's playing out of order?!? We went to apprehend an assassin, I decided to take his side and go back and murder the dispatcher, afterward the FMV of when we first met the assassin in the cavern started to play again.....leaving the mission seemingly still open. Lets not forget my personal favorite that happened right after that -- a nice long grueling fight with a huge mama dragon, were supposed to get an FMV of Hawke doing an epic fatality finishing move.....no dragon. Just shows Hawke jumping into mid air...slicing through the air....crippling the air....then killing a 50 foot ball of air. Brutal.

Game would have easily been a 9 had it not been for the bugs.
