The second installment in the Dragon Age series at first glance seemed a disappointment. Most people that fell in love with the first game were shocked that the game didn't carry on the story-line (directly anyways) from the first. The templar vs. mages story-line expands on some troubles witnessed in the first game and a certain witch makes a nice guest appearance.

The voice acting is top notch, and most of the characters are richly developed, but after a couple of play-throughs I really only used the same 3 companions for almost everything.

Thedas is big, the deep roads are deep, and there are enough people, places and things to keep this game series afloat for a long time, so I get that the developers wanted to distance themselves from DA:O pretty quickly. The combat is neither better nor worse, although I scarcely found myself using combat tactics until my third play-through. And it was at this point I also realized how much I enjoyed having Isabela around. Her dialogue is great, her and Varric's sarcasm is superb and her assets are, well, uh, ahem.

The only real drawback the game had was the overabundance of recycled environments. Too many times. Is that what gave the game the feel of being rushed? Or was it that it was based in and around a town you rarely leave?

There are plenty of places to go, and people to take us there, but I hope there is still room for a certain pirate queen in the next story, although I fear her part will be but a small one if it is there at all.
