There is so much to say about Doom Collector's Edition... it is hard to start anywhere. Let's just say this... it will always be a part of my collection! It was the very first of it's type of FPS that broke the barrier for other great games to come. The Collector's Edition just made the original be everything it is and better! Having all of the original Doom games wrapped up in one neat little package gives the player a varitalbe choice of levels, toughness and setups to keep any gamer ocupied for several hours. Plus with all of the expansion packs & modes out there... you can change the game to your liking anytime and keep expanding! I really did like the windows interface for setting up the game pre-load style. That I thought was a great idea being that right after you set it up you are straight into the action. Allowing you to run mods and or make changes right there from that start up panel makes playing Doom even easier. I remember taking time to install certain mods and graphics back in the earlier days... what a pain it could be. Now it is just so simple that anyone can do it! All of the great original weapons and music were left undisturbed as well. Sometimes when the makers of games do a re-issue of an original, they will revamp the levels or modify the music. They were very smart and left the classics well enough alone. How can you improve perfection in a game anyhow. I feel if you have to modify the original from itself, you were never very happy with it in the beginning! This shows that Id Software was very happy with the original and knew it would still sell if it was just that... ORIGINAL!!! You can pick this version up just about anywhere for $9.99 and why wouldn't you? That is a great price for a classic game that still works great on modern technology! The perfect game to fill in a lazy afternoon or an evening after a long day at work... this game will never cease to both satisfy as well as help to remenese the good old school days of Video Gaming! :)
