Greg Kasavin has been through hell to give us a verdict on Doom 3.
I remember playing the demo on my new pc when it just got released and the graphics BLEW me away.
@andy1992uk are you serious ?!! Metro was awesome , but Doom III ............... was just the mark of history of gaming !
@Rheinmetal totally , ah , remenber playing on XBOX , so awesome
The reason your man is having such an easy time with these creatures is cause he suppose to be a super solider I think. Havant played 3, but I know thats the story in and 1 and 2. Doom was one of the best and scariest games I have ever played. One day i'll try doom 3.
4:06 Greg you so funny
Miss Greg, that guy was such a good reviewer.
There is a copy of Doom 3 in a store near me, and it sits there for ages. They sell it for 60 Euros! Is it worth it?
really makes you scream!!!!!
i miss greg kasavin. by far the best reviewer.
@DPoolX i'm ashamed to say i have played it in the dark.. with headphones.. and quit playing it because i was affraid i was going to have a heart attack :)) that was 4 years ago. it was that good
My god ,i love so much this game. The best horror FPS ever,FEAR,DEAD SPACE 1,2 AND METRO 2033 are good too ,but Doom 3 rocks!!!!!! I can wait for Doom 4!!!!!!!!
@naryanrobinson Haha, that's the FIRST thing I do once I get ANY game that doesn't natively support a widescreen aspect ratio. :P
@Jedilink109 If you're playing the game on a widescreen monitor, there's a pretty easy way to get the game to look better. I know what you mean, it all looks OK even in 2011 except for the textures, they're just a bit low-res. Google "Widescreen Gaming Forum" then when you're on there look for Doom 3. If you're playing on anything other than a 4:3 ratio, they have some pretty simple console commands to give you a proper aspect ratio, and therefore a higher pixel density and better looking textures.
Sounds kind-of lame.
I don't get why they gave the graphics award to this game. Half-Life 2 looks so much better than this.
Been playing this game for the first time the past few days. I remember when this game looked top of the line. Now when I play it I want some updated graphics to make the game look nicer now.
this game was scary
metro 2033 is new doom 3
i really like this game but after playing fear i feel doom should have been more like fear
Man, Greg just hammers on this game, lol! I thought it was ok Co-Op only because it wasn't as boring that way. While graphics certainly aren't everything, they do matter significantly as this game shows. It's hard to believe that the 360 and PS3 were disigned before this game came out and are pushing graphics that put this game to shame. While I liked the game, it's appeal didn't last for me and is the only game that I have ever sold; but just got a copy for $3 and had a little fun playing it again.
i luv this game use to have it on xbox those were the good hold days
graphics r absolutely amazing, but graphics in halo combat evolved and half life 2 are better
What's he talking about... Doom 3 has one of the best stories ever
I had started playing doom 3 around the time it came out but was quickly distracted by far cry. here it is about 6 years later and i just finally got around to installing and beating doom 3. i wish i would have finished this along time ago. as linier as it is, doom 3 is still a blast to play and grapics are still good enough to not make you go "bleh". i'll admit, it does get repetitive after a while but 75% way through the game it really starts getting awsome. This is a must play game!
Will always love this game.
Why the griping about story and character dev. Thid is DOOM for god's sake since when did people start caring about all that stuff? The game is actually a masterpeice for it's generation and should be considered a classic. Play this in the dark w/ some good headphones and tell me you didnt piss your pants. His arguments hold no weight when none of his observations detract from the gameplay experience
This game scared the whiz out of me when I first played it.
Doom 3 is a fantastic game and always will be

haha best part is when greg says "when you have these little tiny robot who are more powerful than the enemies then why is this space having all these troubles it doesnt make sense, well no matter just kill some demons and worry about that stuff" i miss you greg.
ive got DOOM 3 its a game u play now then :/
What's with the red light?
greg looks like little devil in that red light
Cabbage100 this guy was the best reviewers gamespot has ever had..... prob making reviews of games while you weren't even born
the guys right the game should've had torch attached to weapons. but my favourite game of all time!! :)
omg i couldn't even watch this whole video!! This reviewer is the most boring sounding person I've ever heard! he manages to make explosions and shotguns sound like tea with nanna!! XD
Even though this guy made a lot of negative points, i really think that this is a classic horror. Lol it does get ridiculous at times.
Always been a fan of horror, but this game had me on the edge of my seat pissing my pants. When they come out with DOOM 4 I hope they dd a bit of background info on your character, a more in depth multiplayer, fix some technical issues; such as weird lighting effects that happened to me all the time, and finally make at least one more great game of DOOM for us all to play. I give DOOM 3 a 9 out of 10
Ok game, far from the best though. I think 8.5 was a tad too high .. 7 would be better.
I've never been a fan of of horror, in movies or games. But I had to get this cos I've been a Doom fan all my life, and man I loved every second of it. The environments may have been repetitive but I was too terrified to care! @agamepro2U: Haha yeah man. The 2D glitches used to really freak me out.
A continuation of a classic series
Hehe.. I just thought that they should have made you have to change batteries with the flashlight.. Then people would really get pissed off!!!
Looks fun...when's the expansion coming out?
I like this game a lot! I've played it 4-5 times already and i'm starting it again. For the parts that don't makes sense (flashlight, sentry-droids etc) i ussualy think for myself what i think it happened (infra-red equipment hasn't been delivered yet, sentry-droids' batteryes have depleted, i survive and others die because those soldiers wore in groups and the demons concentrated on them etc) even if it's not said in the story. Great game
it would be funny if you walked into a supply room and it was overflowing with sentry bots. lol this base is having trouble?
Yeh, having the gun and flashlight separate just plays into the feel of the game.
wat does it matter about continuity? Having the gun and flashlight seperate makes the game more fun
I just played the demo and it is very fun. But it can get very hard on the regular difficulty.
Great remake of the father of FPS and blood-and-guts games. No bad comment can be made about the Doom series. except why is there a tree in Hell? why does one side of it follow me when i run around it? The 2-d horror! Yet we wouldnt have FPS today without it.
@barber_force I agree. id Software has pretty much established a console-&-PC tradition at this point, what with Doom 3 and Rage being so. I'd bring up Quake 4 and the upcoming Wolf, but those are made by Raven Software. Oh, and ET:QW as well, but that just stunk on consoles. Still, PC is the best for FPS games, I think. Mouse aiming can't be beat.
