Dispite the games tltle, it's not a continuation of 'Doom 2: Hell On Earth' that was released 1994. It's actually a totally new version of the original 'Doom' game that was released 1993.
Developing 'Doom 3' I.D Software Incorporated a brand new groundbreaking physics engine that gave this title a distinctive individual look and feel. They also employed professional Science Fiction writer Mathew Costello.. Better known for 'The 7th Guest' and 'The 11th Hour' games, to help create a more immersive and atmospheric gaming experience for the player.
The story of 'Doom 3' is set in the year 2145 within a research centre on Mars owned by the 'Union Airospace Corperation' (U.A.C).
You play through the entire game as an anonymous U.A.C marine using a selection of great weapons, who's mission is interrupted by hellish phenomenal encounters after the discovery of an unusual artifact.
Personally I found this game to be an extremely dark, imersive and atmospheric gaming experience.
To gain full advantage from 'DOOM 3' play it alone in the dark with your surround sound turned up high !
