Doom was made by the Master developers ID. They revolutionised the FPS genre with its fantastic games DOOM and QUAKE and since Doom 2 every one was waiting for the next chapter in this epic franchise. And in August of 2004 they delighted us with another amazing game Doom 3.

Doom 3 was the first game developed with ID tech 4 one of the most high tech game engines made at the time and thats the show off for Doom 3. It is one of the most gorgeous games ever made which could contend with graphics from nowadays consoles and PC's. Its Amazing use of lighting gives the game the scariest feel out of any FPS made. Mixed with wonderfully detailed space facilities and epically created demons all spiced together with the graphics and you get Doom 3. Doom 3 see's you as a lone space marine who gets trapped on the facility and is forced to fight through hordes of demons to reach his objectives. Again the main thing of Doom 3 was its beautiful graphics, you would have to stop and gaze at its graphical beauty. Without the Lighting it would not give the right fear factor. You are forced to traverse this Space station with only a selection of weapons and a flashlight, you cannot carry the flashlight all the time so you are given a real sense of fear.

All though it does seem odd only you are not getting infected, you will come across some survivors and PDA's which gives you information to get ammo or directions that gives the game some back story. The Game has an interesting story where the scientists open a whole into hell, then the demons flood the station and you must fight you way off. The game mainly plays out on the station and at some points in hell.

The game is as linear as you like but it will take you a good 12 to 13 hours to complete. One negative aspect is that the game does get slightly repetitive and predictable, that's why i have taken points off. You will come to see that some demons will allways spawn behind you or pop out off a vent when you pick up some ammo in the dark. Although killing a demon is very satisfying.

But it's a very unique shooter that really gives out a sense of fear and will have you on the edge of your seat. And with its Graphical beauty will amaze you into wanting to continue.
