finally, a good port of the great PC game

User Rating: 8.5 | DOOM (Long Box) PS
Now this is a true console port of doom.

Graphics: the graphics are extremely good and are almost PC perfects. The game has high pixilation but it still looks amazing and the PS version has it's own twist to the graphics, lighting effects. Yep, just about every room has a different light type and when you enter a different light type you get a different color filter on your screen. I like the effect but I heard some people say that it's executed poorly although I disagree.

Sound: the sound chip in the PS is amazing and emulated adlib/sound blaster PC quality amazingly. The music is amazing and is almost PC perfect while the sound effects truly match what they are and match the PC version with near or total perfection.

Gameplay: it's the same fast paced, run and gun shooter from the PC but now it's on a TV, with a gamepad, and some CD load time. The CD load time is also almost non-existent yet still something that holds it back form PC perfection.

Final thoughts: an amazing port with a few extras making it stand out slightly from the PC port and with some new graphical designs almost making up for the one or two flaws that this port has in comparison to the PC version.

Hints: PLAY THE GAME!!!
2: in level 1, after you walk through the chamber with the winding side walk and the acid looking stuff go the hallway and look for a different colored part of the wall, it can be opened for a secret passage.
3: walk into the room with the "end level" switch in it but don't press the button, instead walk back out and you'll see the raised part where the imp was has gone down
4: walk back into the hallway that comes before the winding walkway room and run fast into the secret passage (made when the raised area lowered) and try and make it into the elevator in the back on the left side
