The fact that it has a plot and story Doom is easily the best game that you can get with 400 MPS. Real Score: 8.2/10
Doom is the story of a Marine on Mars who is fighting off hoardes of demons from Hell. After you fight your way through Mars you eventually get sent to Hell and fight demons there as you try to escape. All three of the original Doom chapters are here as well as the Ultimate Doom chapter 4. By today's standards Doom is a fairly short game, but you really do feel like you have gotten quite a bit done. Each chapter takes atleast an hour on each chapter on the higher difficulty levels, but on the easier ones it is quite easy to reach the par times if you know what you are doing and you know exactly where to go.
After you are complete with the single player the game does have co-op and deathmatch on either the same Xbox 360 or on Xbox Live. I never found a co-op match to join, so I really cannot get into details on how that plays but I did get to play some deathmatches. First I would like to say that Doom originally never had multiplayer and Doom 2 was the game that introduced multiplayer to the series so Doom is not really meant to play multiplayer and that shows. The game is laggy at times and the maps don't feel like they were meant to be played on multiplayer. You will occasionally respawn in the place that you died, which makes for some unfair matches as you will automatically be matched up again with a player who had recently killed you and with better weapons.
Doom is a download that cannot be missed. For only five dollars it is the one of the greatest deals on Xbox Live Arcade. It doesn't really matter if you have played the game before or if you are new to the game you will probably still have blast basking in nostalgia. This has really gotten me excited for Duke Nukem 3D coming to Xbox Live Arcade, and hopefully soon we will see Doom 2 as well.
