Donkey Kong Country Returns Video Review

it would be cool if they had donkey kong for the wiiu and if they rampage for the wiiu, that would be awsome.

Why haven't i bought this yet?  imma buy it this week.

This looks almost as hard as DKC3 (almost ;) )

this game is a truck load of fun, so addicting,yet incredibly hard, not sure why? its impossible to get through a level from the second time, let alone the first. and you cant play with diddy. ohh :( one of the best this year. control no issue though.

Easily one of the best games for the Wii. I am so glad DKC made a comeback. Hopefully there will be more in the future.

Almost a year later and this game is still one of the most viewed. Must be good.

I swear this game was the hardest game I have played since the N64 days and that including games on playstation and xbox if you want a challenging game buy this

I played this in the electronics section of Target in Long Beach, and I had a lot of fun with it. My sister has a Wii, and I just might get this someday.

They didn't really talk about it, but this game is brutally difficult. I generally consider myself pretty good at video games, and the there are some levels that I simply couldn't do. Tons of fun, though. Nintendo's sorry gift to their hardcore followers.

The visual style is amazing and is actually on Par if not,better than Mario Galaxy 2! The game brings Hard Difficulty back to those who crave it and it gets addicting and fun! If you have a wii, you'll be doing yourself a huge favor in buying this game.

@ Hiroo4 Two more things, 1: To say that someone who enjoys a good,honest,clean,fun game-minus all the shooting and violence that dominate the industry these days-needs to learn to game is very inaccurate indeed.A real has no need to go and slam the choices of others.You should learn that.It would make the world a better place. 2: You called me a counter troll.That is just admitting that your only purpose here is to troll,or I'd not be countering anything would I?If that is so,why are you wasting your time here? @ Hiroo4 Ok sonny,I know a good game when I see one.I've been playing games for nearly 20 years,and my dad has played them since they were invented.I'd wager we know a good game when we see one.And I'll bet you never enjoyed the REAL classics in gaming.To be honest,I blazed through reading your previous comment without realizing you just said that one of THE best games on the Wii and in the platforming genre should be DLC only.You obviously haven't played this game,and have no idea the scope of it.It is massive,challenging,and downright fun. To quote a reviewer ,"This game could have been stripped of all nostalgia and recognizable characters and re-named Steve the Gorilla's Bananaquest and I still would have enjoyed it just as much."He goes on to rate it a 9.5. Where's your nostalgia bit now?This game is far from outdated,and is worth every penny I spent on it. And the reason to have games that aren't only motion controlled is because the Wii is just as good for regular games. The Wii has a great list of games that do NOT ride on nostalgia,and I know because I own them.Yes there is plenty of shovel ware on the Wii,but if all you ever play is Wii sports or "Whoopie-Fun Shake em Up Mini Games 2" you are very much missing the best of the console. Side scrollers and platformers will never go out of date.They built the gaming industry into what it is,and almost all games 2 or 3D have platforming in them.

@Wormkid_64 Next to no motion controls eh? So why have a Wii? To play outdated side-scrollers for 60 bucks? Doesn't make sense to me.

@Hiroo4 I have next to no motion controlled games on my Wii at all.And my comments have nothing to do with trolling.I love this game,I love the Wii,and I love Nintendo.I was just saying so. If you don't like the Wii,don't look up its games and articles just to slam it and its fans. BTW,I also have a 360,which I do play.'Nuff said.

@Wormkid_64 I've had a Wii for few years. It's a gimmick. A very disappointing, cheap gimmick riding only on nostalgia. Learn to game, counter-troll. This game belongs in DLC category maybe.

GAME OF THE YEAR! (Not saying much)

Amazing game-Highly addictive like it's predecessors..But couldn't Nintendo take a little more time to make the story have some sense into it?? Mind controlling barrakas? WTF?

I'm getting a wii for Christmas and I just may get this cauuse it reminds me of the good old days years gone by and I did use to play such a game and so can't wait until I get it.

Game is good, but probably the most monotonous possible reviewer.

@Lofanator25 you should buy Donkey Kong Country - its just one of the best games for wii and i would say its better then mario bros wii. which really feels a bit hard when you start and a bit boring to get into the whole game. Can't say that about Donkey Kong - It isn't easy, but much more fun to try again then mario bros. and it finds the right point to get onto a higher level. And if you want to play a good shooter for wii, you may should buy the metroid prime collection including the whole trilogy - just one of the best series ever but its more an adventure and platformer game then a shooter, but first person, with a lot of action, good boss fights, awesome atmosphere and also great graphics.also created by retro studios just as DK - they just know how games have to be done and if you look at the user ratings i am not the only one who would say that, the prime collection got one of the highest user ratings you can find here one gamespot.

I just ordered this game...I am so pumped. It brings back some awesome memories of the past.

@popovicsasa-Well New Super Mario Brps. Wii is very hard, and for that reason it collects dust. With Goldeneye I have never owned a fps before, so it would be a shot in the dark for me. Sorry if I am starting to make you be my advice giver but I am picky.

My final thought:ALL HAIL RETRO STUDIOS,GREATEST DEVELOPMENT TEAM OF THEM ALL! I seriously cannot wait to see what they do next.

I'm playing through the game cooperatively with my dad,also another file with my brother,and one single player file.With my dad,we're all the way into the last world,maybe a 3rd of the way through.Cranky Kong is a rich old ape thanks to us.We've spent millions of banana coins on extra baloons and they are going faster than coming.And guess what.We love it.Every death has been because WE messed up.The game has brutal difficulty in the later levels,and when you die,it's because you need to try again and improve your timing.This is the first game where I've thrown away SO many lives on the same levels,and I don't even care,because it is such a blast.The controls work PERFECTLY. Playing with the Nunchuck combo feels best,as you really feel like your pounding the ground,and you can just sprawl out on the sofa in the most comfortable way without needing you hands to be close,but that's just a lazy convenience. Electricgeko is 100% right.(Plus your screen name is cool.)

Should i get Goldenye 007 or Donkey Kong Country Returns?

what is he talking about clumsy controls - maybe it doesn't feel as easy as in the first games but it i would say its just good as it is it doesn't feel wrong, it feels a bit like more like mario - but as a new level of donkey kong expierence. This game should get 9.0 min. i havn't played the whole game, but everything i played yet is more or less perfect and brings just what you expect and want from a new donkey kong. I really hope retro will make a second one. The level design and gam,eplay is awesome and innovative. One of the best games for Wii and the last years. I also can't understand the ratings here on gamespot, every game for xbox and ps3 just feels overrated and. Why can't they just rate games as good as they are. as i saw the 8.5 rating i thought its maybe not that great stuff retro brought us with metroid prime. But it is. a real shame something like FF XIII got a 8.5 and this too. i mean FF XIII just wasn't a real game and a step into the wrong direction, but DKCR is just amazing and brings back the fun of the good old snes games, but it also brings new stuff to the series. Guess it was just a bad idea to introduce and new rating system here, since then ratings doesn't say much about a game.
