I mean these bonus rooms feel more like the difficulty is artificial than legitimate. I mean even DKC 3's bonus rooms weren't the abominations that this game's bonus rooms were. Why did Retro have to bring back the DKC 1 style bonus rooms and make them more difficult than they needed to be? I honestly think that this games bonus rooms are the worst in the series.

It sucks the fun out when they were all exactly the same. DKC2 and DKC had more variety than DKCR did.
Actually I greatly prefer DKC 3's bonus rooms over DKC 1's since DKC 1's bonus rooms were only required to just find them but not actually beat them, bonus rooms are pretty much the reason I put DKC 3 over DKC 1, even if the only new one is grabbing green bananas, they were actually fun and there was consequences if you failed them but they weren't harder than they needed to be like this game's bonus rooms, at least with DKC 2 they moved bonus rooms forward to something that encouraged you to beat them but weren't all the same or harder than they needed to be which is why when Rare made DKC 1 they never forced you to get every last banana and banana bunches in the bonus rooms that had tons of them and they didn't put a timer making it even more unfair, DKC 3 kept most of DKC 2's style of bonus rooms but because those worked out much better and were fun to play and it was Rare moving things forward and keeping what worked, Retro Studios makes the mistake of not only taking huge steps backwards with this game's bonus rooms but makes them harder than they need to be going back to DKC 1's styled bonus rooms, forcing you to collect every last item even if you're in a moving back and forth barrel, and slapping a timer on them making them hard unfair and frustrating and not even letting you switch to the better Kong forcing you to play as the one that drops like a stone.
The bonus rooms in this game aren't even fun they're just frustrating, Rare moved away from the DKC 1 bonus rooms for a reason in DKC 2 and 3 because they worked out so much better yet Retro stupidly moves back to them and only makes them harder than they need to be to the point where the difficulty is only artificial and not legitimate. I mean I greatly prefer DKC 2 and 3's bonus rooms, and while I don't like DKC 1's all that much they at least weren't harder than they had to be, I mean if Rare had made DKC 1's bonus rooms only with banana bunches and items forced you to collect them all and put a timer on them they wouldn't be fun at all and only frustrating, Retro completely failed to realize why Rare made the bonus rooms in DKC 2 and 3 the way they were.
