Save Donkey Kong Country, DK 64 is probably the best DK game to date.

User Rating: 9.5 | Donkey Kong 64 N64
This game is Donkey Kong's first true 3D experience, save his debute on the SNES. Here, you'll find numerous reasons to explore the vast levels and collect seemingly endless coins, bananas, tokens, ammo, grenades, and most importantly, golden bananas.

The game starts with DK working out in his tree house, unaware that K. Rool has kidnapped Diddy, Chunky, Lanky, and Tiny Kong to lure Donkey out of the jungle. K. Rool's main attempt is to destroy DK Island, but not without a comical fight!

As you progress through the game, you'll be able to switch between the five different apes, each with unique abilities and powers to aquire golden bananas.
There are 7 huge levels to explore, but to obtain access to them, you need to defeat bosses and collect a certain amount of golden bananas, which are like the stars in Mario 64. Again, this game is colorful, huge, and wacky like heck, so you better make plans to purchase it for your N64.

I gotta say, this game is DK's best adventure since DKC on the SNES, and it's sad that he hasn't had an adventure like those since. DK Jungle Beat is a side-scroller, but even with all its fireworks, it just can't compare to the 'Golden Age' of gaming.

Aside from DK 64's adventure story, you can team up with three friends and play an all shoot-out in battle arenas where you beat-up your foes for first place. Great fun.

Be sure to get an 'Expansion Pak' for your N64. You'll need it in order for the game to work. This is one DK game you can't afford to miss out on!
