Donkey Kong to the rescue... Again.

1995 was one of the best years in the video game world. Why? it was the year that Donkey Kong Contry was released as an attempt to keep people playing their SNES intead of buying a Playstation or a Saturn. In the year 1999, Nintendo was in the same situation, and Donkey Kong saved their back sides again. Donkey Kong was the only game for N64 that required the expansion pack. After playing for 5 minutes, you can tell why. Th levels are massive, the area between the leves is massive, there is alot to unlock, and the graphics and sound are great. The normal jumper pack could never handle it. Donkey kong's gameplay seems to borrow from Super Mario 64, only they made it ALOT more fun. The main differences are that there is more depth, and the game moves more quickly. On the first level, you buy a gun for Donkey, unlock Diddy, buy Diddy's gun and buy new moves for both of them. Super Mario was much slower. Through out the game, you will be racing, exploring beautiful jungles, and unlocking 4 Kongs. They are Diddy, Tiny, Lanky and Chunky. Each of the kongs will buy new moves from Cranky, buy a gun from Funky and a musical instrument from Candy. The variety in the game is incredible. You will be racing, you will play some normal platform jumping, and you even get to play the original Donkey Kong arcade game! The reason you play all of these games is to get golden bananas so you can try and stop King K.Rool from distroying your island. Visually, the game was a complete success. With the expansion pack, the worlds were beautifully created and more than worth exploring. Every thing has alot of poly gons and it's all brigh and colourful. The only problem I have with them is that there are a few graphical glitches. Ohter than that, every thing is great. The sound is another high point. All of the monkeys have different grunts, and there is alot of cool background music. Some of the songs are taken from DKC1, but alot are new. Donkey Kong 64 was just what Nintendo needed to save themselves. The only problems with the game are camera, and sometimes repetitive gameplay. This game is a real winner.
