Not as good as I'd hoped it would be but still alot of fun and a good workout to boot!

Okay, so don't expect Fight Night Round 4 quality, thats not going to happen on the good old Wii, but it is surprisingly good fun. The control system works very well, is very intuitive and responsive, so for having a quick shot or training session this game succeeds.

The in-game graphics aren't up to much, although you tend to overlook this after a while; the overall presentation of the game is very shoddy however, as a UI/Web designer I just can't understand why 2K would go to all the effort of making a control system that is fun to use then put little effort into making the presentation top notch. The menu screens etc are very old looking and uninspiring and putting video of classic boxing matches in the background doesn't really make up for or detract from this.

There aren't a greal deal of well known current fighters in this game either, although it does have a few gems in Chris Eubank and Nigel Benn to keep British boxing fans happy, a few more current well known faces would have been nice though.

The Sounds/Soundtrack is fairly drab also, that coupled with the poor presentation gives this game a kind of retro PS1 feel, maybe thats just me being old though :)

From reading the above it sounds like I'm really bashing this game, but as stated the controls have been implemented very well and the game does have some great elements; the training for example is alot of fun (my arms are still sore today). The career mode has some nice elements also, being able to relive a few classic fights with set goals and the screen going black and white with a nice grainy effect over the screen is pretty cool. I just can't help but feel the overall game feels a bit unfinished or rushed. If 2K Sports decide to release another Don Kings Boxing game next year lets hope they allow more of a budget for presentation and get some more recognisable faces in.

Worth a Rent or if you are a hardcore boxing fan - worth a purchase.
