DmC: Devil May Cry User Review
Dumbed down shallow combat compared to previous games. Far to easy to beat enemies and bosses. Horrible Story and plot.

- The Bottom Line:
- "Waste of time"
The combat is weaker then previous titles. The Style system was broken, its damage based more then combo based and its pathetically easy to get SSS ranks for every mission.
Most fights are uninspired and boring. Enemies start feeling like they are just there to pad the game length, as are the platformer bits in the levels.
The frustration of no lock on especially with flying enemies, and the color coded must use weapon X to beat really ruin the point of the combo system. This alone keeps the game for being anything better then average. Its such a deep flaw that I cant understand why no one is being fired over its exclusion. Its an essential part of having a deep combat and combo system. No direction imputs? Really NT are you knew to game making?
Bosses are easy to beat because they telegraph their moves from miles away. Cut Scene interrupt you while you are comboing bosses. This is just frustrating as hell, not to mention the QTE used in most boss fights just breaking up the flow of the game. And they can glitch out and just stand there doing nothing while you kill them.
Then there is the horrible characters and story itself. More then anything it feels like Dante in this DmC and his crew are the bad guys. The bad guys come off better then the good guys. Its rife with plot holes and and unlikeable main character and his support is not much better. Then the poor direction of the acting and VA work just makes it that much worse. With the poor characterization that makes everyone in the game feel like a cardboard cutout or what a 12 year old thinks is cool. I was left just eyerolling at how bad the plot and narrative were. There is nothing Shakespearean about this game.
Wait till this game is no more then 20 bucks before picking it up.

Well balanced game play, keeping of some elements. Evolved narrative but lacks that dramatic strength and anticipation

Game play is as the last installments of the the series. Boss battles are of repetitive nature

I don't understand the bad reviews, It's the only recent game that gave me that fresh feeling that has been long lost.
