DmC often seems stripped down compared to the titles preceding it, but great combat makes it enjoyable nonetheless.

DmC deviates more than a little from the titles that preceded it. Yeah, Dante doesn't have the signature white hair, red coat and slick talk, and these changes to his character design are strange to say the least. But at the core of it, DMC has always been about the combat, and that shines here - mainly because it hasn't been changed much, besides being slowed down a bit. A few old moves show up here, and there are a wide variety of guns and weapons to use. Changing between them is easy enough too, and overall the combat retains the DMC feel.

The graphics and the art design, besides Dante, hit the mark as well. The monster and boss design are quite good, although most boss battles aren't that memorable. They're not all easy or boring, but I don't see myself remembering them a few years from now as well as DMC3's boss battles.

I found the game to have a few annoyances. The platforming for example, sometimes took too long and was usually boring. The plot was often uninteresting, with too many cutscenes, although the characters are still great. The game takes a long time to load sometimes. Lastly, DmC is quite short, and while there might be some replay value, I probably won't be doing so for a while.
