I don't get where you people feel you need this saying the game flopped. It's like saying, "I think racists are awful! (Flame Shield Max Power!!! Oh god, here comes the avalanche of dissenters!!!)"
Well, since we're on the DmC board, it would be more like saying racists are awful in texas, then using a flame shield.

Not really. The "antis" outnumber the "pros" on here. Besides that, both sides acknowledge this game isn't really a success financially.
I'm just not quite sure what feathers were supposed to be ruffled here. Shatterstar and his ilk aside, of course; there's -always- extreme outliers on both sides in any situation, but they hardly constitute the majority of either side.

Here's the thing I don't understand.
Why would you even mention DMC5 when your first paragraphs goes against that as even a possibility. It will be foolish for them to even gamble on this franchise ever again. No matter how you spin it mate, they're both Devil May Cry.
So basically DmC will be the last DMC game that both fans and newcomers will remember. Not original DMC because that wasn't the last DMC game.
So you see. We got to play our DMC game and you got nothing. So when they decide to make a DMC game years down the line, it'll still be a reboot....lol. Because the original will be old and forgotten while DmC will still be fresh in our minds.
So DmC is the last game of the DMC franchise.
Sorry. Even it it would be remembered it's only as dirt stain and not as a good game. As for me, I don't count DmC to franchise as every third rated studio can pick any franchise and use names from it. - Feb 12, 2013 11:26 pm GMTKyrylo posted...

Actually, to anybody who's not a massive tool...it'll be remembered as a good game. Unfortunately most of the people on message boards are massive tools...so there ya go. Frankly, I was just happy to have SOME sort of new DMC game to play. Whether they continue with the reboot or go back to the old universe, I could care less. As long as I gets me more Dante.
(Side note: Got a Revoltech DMC3 Dante figure coming my way in the mail tomorrow. So hyped to put him on my shelf. Also have Alucard (Hellsing) and Vash the Stampede coming the same day. Gonna be fun to crack those boxes open.)

Quite true. But neither does good reviews make a game good. In the end though, like the good old saying goes "Money talks, BS walks" This game flopped hard. Whether or not it is a good game (which its not but to each his own) doesn't matter to Capcom. MONEY does. Hence they will lose money on this game and therefore will not make a second one.
Like I said all the pros can put this game on a pedestal for I care but in the end it doesn't change the fact that this game flopped. As you pros so eloquently put it. We antis have won. We don't want to see Dante buried but if DMC5 is never going to happen we would at least like Dante to retire and not be further ruined.

Yea it flopped in sales but yea the fact still remains it was at least recevied very well and you cant fight that fact. - Feb 12, 2013 11:49 pm GMTfinalfantasy94 posted...

It was actually received pretty mixed. Some liked it, some didn't. It was like 50/50 in that regard.

Good thing DmC was outsourced to cut major costs then. Much like Resident Evil:Operation Raccoon City was outsourced. Remember that game? Panned by critics and one that ~true RE fans~ hate?
Resident Evil: Operation Terrestrial Fear coming soon~
Didn't that game sell very well? Remember hearing it was a success in like a week or two.

The game gets 90% of unfair bashing and 90 %of unfair praise. It has so much flaws you can build a castle from them. If you don't see them, it makes you blind to the truth. - Feb 13, 2013 12:38 am GMTRichterB17 posted...

I believe it was a success financially, but it was received extremely negatively. People bought it because it had RE on the cover. It's probably a factor in why RE6 didn't sell as much as Capcom expected. The last time people bought a RE game on name alone, they were met with a very mediocre game. RE6 was just as mediocre, but some people didn't buy it on name alone, lest they make the same mistake like they did with ORC.

Very well, but that's only true if you count user reviews. You cant deny that dozens of major gaming publications gave it a good score.
