I recently got this game and it is very good. If you can overlook a few things like the framerate slowing down sometimes and you like open world rpgs you may want to give this a try. Its far superior to Two Worlds, not hard to do, and has nice graphics and a very detailed world. The voice acting and writting are pretty good and of course there is a ton of loot to aquire. I just love games like this and I think this game did not get the respect it deserves. I started as a ranger and found the targeting to be easy to use. Simply hold left trigger and use right stick to choose the target. Also I saw that people say the game is hard. I have only died a few times and Im at lvl 11 now. I like that the enemies have a fixed lvl so if you are too weak just lvl up and return to deal the pain later. Another great thing is the freedom to make the character the way you want them, all of the skills, magic ect are available to all classes. I liked dragon age but this game is much more open ended and customizable. UPDATE: I'm now lvl 22 and this game is still great, I had so much fun trying to get my battle tower. Its not like some games where its just given to you. You have to fight your way through it and earn it. I am enjoying this as much as DA:O maybe more. oh and the 1 guy said you can't pause it is wrong. Hit start or click R3 and it pauses like DA:O and you can choose an action. Ive even been using tactics like "pulling" single mobs out of groups with ranged attacks like you would in an MMO. Again I say if you can overlook some technical problems this game is great fun. TIP: Do not depend on auto-save at all, I have 3-4 saves going and it has helped a lot. save often on multiple slots, seriously. It got me out of trouble a few times.

when i heard about this game i wanted to get it. but then I heard gamespot's review and they only gave it a 6.5 so i decided it wasn't worth it. but now i see this and the comments saying it's better than the review so i think i just heard all that was bad about it and not so much good. I'll give this game a try :)

xionomiaou 5 pts

I have red the worst about this game..... this is why I know im gonna love it

acerpg007 5 pts

How come GS scored this game 6.5? and to some games too which the score is too low for it.. makes me wonder..

sealover8 5 pts

@msnikish While I definitely agree with you about the difficulty and skill it takes to make a video game. Consumers have the right to critique their purchases, after all, it is their money their spending on the game. It is perfectly acceptable for somebody to bash a game because it doesn't suit their tastes, or they believe it to be an inferior game, as that is exactly what game studios are trying to not do. If a game has problems, the consumers will complain, or not buy it, that's just how it works.

Balthasaur 5 pts

skilled player... the controles seems fine. an intresting new looks old style rpg, like it!!!

NinoSwaG 5 pts

@msnikish well said man well said

msnikish 5 pts

yo all these people that break down every game and nit pick need to go to video game school and design YOUR own games YOUR own ways just the way you like it and then you wont have framerate, pop ups, graphics and everything else to complain about ever again

msnikish 5 pts

i was playing Dragon Age before this and it is a little better , but i'm glad this game is not like DA, and bottom line is it is not boring in any way, combat, looting, leveling up dialogue is all there and it is fun , also playing as a dragon is cool

optimuserik 5 pts

looks interesting , nice that u CAN evade stuff , not like OLD RPGs

serdars123 5 pts

I rate it in middle!Well.....Beacuse its a MIX!MIX!Hear that?M-I-X! I really don't like mixes but a normal game,normal,normal......

Nuggetol 7 pts

Try the demo it's really good, it's a bit like a mix between Jade Empire and Dragon Age: Origins except it's not as good as either one =P

ahmad_games 5 pts

seems to be a boring game, he took 3242 days to kill them !!

TheHolyDevil16 5 pts

This was a good game..not a awesome game like Gothic or Dragon Age..no just a normal game

Lescale 5 pts

I played it now and these videos don't do it justice .. it's very nice to play. You can equip 3 sets of weapons so you can engage the first ennemies with a bow and then take your sword + shield in close combat mode. If you use a two handed claymore you will even hit every ennemie in range and not just the selected one as in many RPG games. The loot is also random generated like in Diablo but it will never overwhelm you with 500 items found in 10 minutes. Everything you find is usefull and can be used in alchemy, enchantment and weapons upgrade .. you can even build your own pet with the body parts of your ennemies .. and yes, this pet attacks.

samuralz93 5 pts

This game is good, i liked both this and DA:O, I'm a big fan of RPG'S, and this is as good as any I've played, just different, it has its problems as did DA:O but then again nearly every RPG ive played has had a few.

Gaia27 5 pts

I know a bad game when i see one. This will be AWFUL.

Game-over-death 5 pts

@ marc0polomints I wouldn't say its a 1 tho... That's just being a fanboy... DAO was RPG at its core, you have an epic story that, oddly, some people found dull... Div II is kinda what we see above, more focus on the battle system and less focused on the story. In DAO you could pause the battle and plan it out. DivII is go in and fight, you don't get the pause you have to be on your feet and focus on the at hand. This is not to say that DivII isn't a good rpg just the games take a completely different focus on the RPG style

samnov 5 pts

@toryoom: I totaly agree with you! I really hate automatic combat systems. I wan't TES 5! :D

marc0polomints 5 pts

i wont even give this 1 out of 10 dragon age is well superiour to this dismal perfected game....

Game-over-death 5 pts

So far the boys and girls behing Div II haven't been quite efficient with their trailers... The "I'm a Dragon hunter cause I like to scare off dragons" one was kinda rank but I think they are taking something pretty good and seeing how bad they can make it seem

Garygok 5 pts

the graphics and lighting look descent to me...it's the footage itself that isn't all that exciting...

risbo_23 5 pts

Lol, this looks too bad for me even to consider it. The graphics are like 10 years old, and the gameplay does not impress either. So lame...

toryoom 5 pts

These days, with games being all 3D and over the shoulder, you can't always tell right away what type of gameplay the game will have. And sometimes those little mouse-click hotspots on the ground are hard to notice while watching preview videos of upcoming games. Heh. (Also, it's duly noted before anyone even mentions it that many games labeled "RPG" have so many combinations of several different gameplay styles that it's extremely hard to give them one distinct label.)

toryoom 5 pts

Personally, I agree with the need for a more defined definition of RPG, but I actually look at it from the opposite preference. I'm more a fan of the action aspect. ...While I love the stat building and everything, I'm rather lukewarn to turn-based and absolutely *hate* automated battle systems in games. I'd rather have the "twitch" of controlling every swing of my character's weapon as if I was the character myself, rather than just pointing him at an enemy and queuing up actions that I then watch him perform on his own. I don't mind invisible "dice rolling" happening in the background, determining the amount of damage my attack does, but I want the control to dodge, strike and parry manually, zelda-style. So I agree that the in-depth story and stat building is a major hallmark of what counts as an RPG, but I think the dichotomy between battle control styles in various games labeled as "RPG" deserves to be distinctively labeled, as this has a huge effect on how the game actually plays. I don't mind seeing tags like "JRPG" for console-style turn-based, as it originated in Japan; "ActionRPG" to indicate you have more direct control over your character in combat (though this label seems to be rather confused and convoluted in its own right); "StrategyRPG" for turn-based battles on a grid; and ...oh, I don't know, say "ComputerRPG" for more traditional virtual D&D inspired combat, etc. At least then I would know at a glance of terms what kind of gameplay I was getting.

Shorezy 5 pts

Looks RPG enough to me. Definitely gunna try it out!

BigGhost_AJT 5 pts

@ Ekkoe: Fair enough. I suppose it isn't unreasonable. I took what you said differently the first time.

Ekkoe 5 pts

@BigGhost_AJT That's exactly what I said... My point is that classic RPG fans feel that is unfair. They want to distinguish between their RPGs and the new, action based RPGs like if Da Vinci is art, let's call Dadaism something else. Isn't really that unreasonable, is it?

BigGhost_AJT 5 pts

@Ekkoe: Oblivion is an RPG. Fallout 3 is an RPG. Fable is an RPG. You know why? Because we say so. Fact: There is no universal definition for the term RPG. Games, just like every other form of media, are constantly evolving to suit audiences. They are what we say they are by virtue of sales and reception. If games aren't being made in the same vein of games that you like it's because people don't want to spend 100 hours deciding every minute detail of their character down to the length of their fingernails and eyelashes. And just because a game doesn't meet your standards doesn't strip it of its merit as an artistic work.

Ekkoe 5 pts

@ Humorguy_basic It's not really about what we call it, is it? It's just that the distinction is definitely vague. By your definition, Borderlands is an RPG, Metroid is an RPG, even some of the Mario games are RPGs. The point is that classic RPG fans (talking Black Isle, Arcanum, etc., the ones with depth) are sick of being classified the same name as flashy, omg-its-so-awesome games like Fallout 3 and Oblivion. The fact that it has a different focus is a nice way to express that. Oblivion definitely doesn't meet the standards of the classic RPGs in RolePlaying and character development options, but has a focus on action. Very well, we call it an ARGP, Action RPG. But apparently this is upsetting. Of course I'm gonna get thumbs down by everyone, and now again. Classic roleplaying fans no longer have a market. They want gaming to be an art, not an industry as it is right now, but no one agrees. Since gaming became a public and main-stream thing to do, it became all about quantity in games and as cinematic and action packed as possible. This is easily faked in advertisements, like the sex and violence trailer for Dragon Age: there's sex all right, just with clothes on. Point is, we're just trying to point to depth and the older games that truly understood the RPG genre, because they MADE the RPG genre. Terms like "depth" and "rich characters" aren't even compared to those RPGs, whereas they had 10x the quality, and games like Fallout 3 are just a slap in the face, a wakeup call that a game like Fallout isn't likely to be made again. It's like comparing Rembrandt to Dada-ism: can we really call both art?

shaddix55 5 pts

Never seen this game before today, but now definitely considering picking it up!

Snaptrap 107 pts

It's an Action RPG for those who question it's RPG status. Damn, some people can't read. By the way people self-define genres these days, I'm surprised games like Zelda and ChronoTrigger are still considered RPGs.

Melty123 5 pts

Reminds me a bit of Oblivion-loved the game, and loved the previous two DD so this one should be great too!

ne0man 5 pts

@humorguy_basic: yeah man, iam playing dragon age on the 360 cause i cant run it properly on my pc and even though it has sub par graphics, the game is so good that graphics really are secondary. i only miss the possibility of having a top down perspective and a proper pause function. but damn it IS AN RPG, fallout 3 is an RPG as well. even though you shoot things in first person perspective and is no longer turn based you still have the stats and they are relevant to the outcome in combat. yeah, i really don't understand why people have to label things like that. i think people only criticize fo3 because of its legacy, but to be honest, the only thing that bothers me about fo3 is the dialogue, cause fo1 and 2 had the greatest lines of black humor ever

Humorguy_basic 6 pts

Ekko, I have to give you thumbs down because you are wrong. I found a quote from 2000 that I think decids what is an RPG and what isn't. "This is perhaps the single quality that makes an RPG, and is present in all true RPG's. Whether we're talking about a numerical system of experience points and levels, a more intuitive "skills" system, ability scores, or some combination, there is some way for the player to improve the character/s. This feature seems to distinguish RPG's from most other types of games, Unfortunately, the future seems to be having these character stats and attributes automated, leaving the player to just deal with the story/combat with no or little input into avatar improvement. In this situation you can have genres from Action-RPG to Action Adventure." 10 years ago they knew. Today, in a console orientated market, it's more confused. But by the above rules, which I would go by too, Fallout 3 and Oblivion and Divinity 2 and Dragon Age are RPG's. I don't know why the media and gamers want to make it all complicated, unless it's to pretend in the future that there are still RPG's when there rally aren't.

Ekkoe 5 pts

@Humorguy_basic one more thing: Fallout 1 was a sci-fi RPG whereas sci-fi refers to setting, RPG to style of game. Fallout 3 was NOT an RPG because it relies on the elements mentioned, that's the point. The setting is sci-fi, you're right, but the classification is false.

Ekkoe 5 pts

@Humorguy_basic I'd personally go as far as to say Oblivion doesn't even deserve the untainted title of RPG. ARPG, Action RPG is somewhat more appropriate. Fallout 3 IS a shooter RPG, because we've defined RPG as the term we made it to be. Saying Dragon Age is an RPG-sworder is a silly statement from a linguistic point of view, because it follows the RPG as we defined it. Fallout 3 does not and depends more on its shooting qualities then on its exploration and questing. Personally, I though Oblivion and Fallout 3 were pieces of sheiß, Dragon Age does not meet its expectations and Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, Torment and Fallout 1 are still the best ones. As is Divine Divinity, for that matter. This game looks great so far though, DD2: ED.
