This edition of dissidia brings many new exciting aspects to the table but reuses much of the story from its predecessor

I'm not entirely sure as to why Square decided to step backwards on this version of Dissidia, but regardless it was an interesting step to take. The game offers many new refreshing aspect; such as party play, assists, and an addition to the already vast cast of characters. But on the flip side it fails to deliver on one of Squares usually more poignant aspects, Story. While there is some new story content to be had, there is a large portion which is taken directly from the first game. Now while this may not seem bad at first I, for one, did not buy this game to replay reused story content. It's not even like Dissidia has that great of a story anyways. So this fact only adds insult to injury. Additionally while the game allows import of data from the original game, it strips it of most of your hard work. I did not feel it necessary to take away the gear that I had worked to get on my mains in Dissidia and I've no plan of getting them again either. Continuing onward however the addition of characters is a nice reprieve to say the least, mostly because I was looking forward to play Lightning who did not disappoint. However I did not like the fact that it forces you to play all of the new additions, most of which I never liked to start with. Of course this is purely opinionated but I find it unlikely that any one person will like all of the additions equally. Regardless what it does offer as consolation is nice. The additions of party play, RPG mode ( for the fighting game impaired), and assists are all great additions. Overall while you can't the bad things out of the equation, the game brings back many of the good aspects of the original back into play. So while there are many things I don't like, there are alot more that I do. Chalk it up to being a fanboy but I still highly recommend playing this game.
