Take On The Jungles Of India In One Of Disney's Hardest Platform Games Ever!

User Rating: 8 | Disney's The Jungle Book SNES

There's a certain misconception about Disney when it comes to them making video games. That is, they never take ANY risks whatsoever, and they always practically stick COMPLETELY to the script of any movie that they make a video game on. Well, I've learned after playing the Super NES version of this game, that those notions are FALSE! By necessity, any video game based on the 1967 animated version of "The Jungle Book", was going to HAVE to be an "Adaptation Expansion". But there was definitely ONE thing I never expected Disney to do; it was for them to go OUT of their way to try to make the MOST "Contra" like game (in terms of difficulty), by making practically every single enemy OBSTACLE in this game, actively trying to KILL Mowgli! Thankfully, Mowgli gets the option to fire unlimited banana guns, more useful weapons can be found in mangoes that can be thrown, coconuts which act like bowling bowls, and papayas that act like homing missiles. While these weapons help, the bosses that you have to fight throughout this game, are some of the HARDEST bosses to be found from the 16 bit era; they all take a BUNCH of hits to go down, even WITH the better weapons! While this game features very BEAUTIFUL graphics (the Waterfall level is a marvel of 16 bit engineering), there is actual stereo music featuring versions of the original music from the movie, good sounds, and control, it's the SHEER (maybe Shere Khan) degree of difficulty for this game that brings the score down more than anything else. If you decide to play the version of this game, play it via the Nintendo Switch's "Disney Classic Games Collection", as that version allows you to rewind the game to avoid taking any unwanted damage or deaths, and trust me when I say, you'll probably be using THAT feature a lot! One thing is for sure, all the challenge will make beating the game really feel like it's worth it once you see the ending! I recommend it for any fan of Disney video game enthusiasts, looking for a REAL challenge! Enough said, true believers!
