Wow!  All the downsides of Skylanders-esque toy collecting, coupled with Disney's infamous price gouging, *and* with content that looks like it was put together over a weekend*!  Sign me up!!!

* - based on the three initial characters shown

Posting on GameSpot is a relaxing way to start the weekend, so here I am! First off, I have to say that John from Disney was a great presenter and definitely excited about the game. Have to say Chris Watters did a great job as well interviewing and asking the important questions, though I think he could have asked a few more deeper questions that we are all wondering about the game.

The game looks fun and the characters are lovable. I mean who doesn't want to play as Sully with Buzz Lightyear jetpack? Nonetheless, I don't see myself purchasing this game. The first thing that comes to mind is the price. Not only is there the game, but there is the stand, toybox items, and characters to purchase for the price of a full DLC. Sure it will add new features but when there are already games like LittleBigPlanet, why should I worry about Disney Infinity?

These are a few of my concerns, but it really comes down to why should I care about Disney Infinity if there are already tons of games that are open world, customizable, and for PC: a steam workshop that include these features for free with the game? This is still left unanswered for me.

So let's just refocus and put this in perspective with Disney closing Lucas Arts:

THIS IS WHY I RAISE MY KIDS DISNEY FREE.

Skylanders gone Disney. The figures won't be cheap when you add them up. It an ever ending money making.

Oh wow. I do love Disney. I kind of think that the stand thing is a little annoying, I know it is for kids but I am 20 and would probably love to play this but not sure I want little Disney figurines around my bedroom. That is not the message you want to send people. Also this WILL drive parents nuts, a kid really wants a Cars character, they have had their allowance for the week and eventually get it, probably a week or two of whining and tantrums later. Once they have it that just makes them want the next one and the next and the next. They aren't what you would call cheap. Oh well I will have to see how this one goes. If there is one thing with Disney you always feel you are getting a quality product.

@Dannystaples14 I agree. I don't mind the characters as DLC, but they should honestly distribute the characters digitally as well. I hate having to have a disc or any other physical paraphernalia so tangible characters definitely don't fly for me...but I'm still going to buy this.

This tech isn't new. I had this Pirate Ship for the PC that you put little guys on and it controlled what they did in the game. I'm 21 now, how come this took so long for people to realize kids like collecting things

Where's Perry?  I saw him!  As a side point though I'm worried for all you parents... more overpriced collector toys to buy.

So let me get this straight... every time you buy a character set with a new setting, are you "unlocking" a new environment & character that was already on your disc anyway, or is it actually bringing that information from the internet? Obviously the physical characters themselves aren't storing the data, and it works similar to Skylanders. Just seems like a big ponzi scheme to me, despite the likable characters.

If they are NFC I don't see how whats stopping someone from making NFC tags that are the same info as whats on these characters.

Sure, The price is annoying to pay. BUT JUST LOOK HOW MUCH BETTER THIS SEEMS COMPARED TO SKYLANDERS! And I'm saying this even though I have 89 DIFFERENT INDIVIDUAL FIGURES/SPECIAL VARIANTS (ex. Dark Spyro, Legendary Spyro, etc.), AND HAVE PLAYED THROUGH BOTH OF THE GAMES!!!

Definitely impressive looking and a lot more fun than the shovel-ware of licensed movie games. The cost is insane though. I hope the next skylanders can do something similar but keep costs down.

I'm sorry but $12.99 for a single character is a total ripp-off.

That kind of rip-off pricing is actually extremely insulting.

Those things look like they should be around $5 at absolute most and imo they should probably only be about $1.99 each or something like that if they weren't being complete money grabbing b*stards.

It's a lot more extensive than I thought. It looks impressive but very expensive.

Expensive but pretty cool. Love the open world Disney environments.
