You'd be surprised on what the PS Vita of Disney Infinity 2.0 can do if you can skip the odd problems it has

User Rating: 7 | Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition (Marvel Starter Pack) VITA

Disney Infinity on its own has done pretty well since its debut in 2013 with multiple copies being sold on almost every system and certain figures being hard to find in stores or at a good price on certain sites. Disney Infinity 2.0 was released a year later in 2014 with Marvel and Disney characters figures alongside; 2.0 is more focused on the Marvel franchise this time round since Disney acquired Marvel Entertainment in 2009.

2.0 does expand the Disney Infinity universe expanding its Toy Box mode and giving you more and more choices on creating your own levels and uploading them online think of the LittleBigPlanet franchise when it comes to Play, Share and Create you have the tools and creativity on creating your own levels in the Disney universe. The PS Vita version was released a few months later after it was released on other consoles, the PS Vita version is a port of the PlayStation 3 version if you've played it on that system or just curious to see what the game looks like on a handheld console you'd be surprised what it can offer on the PS Vita.

The price you pay for the Starter Pack for the PS Vita does offer a lot in one box which comes with the game, Black Suit Spider-Man figure, the Spider-Man Play set Piece, two toy box game discs and a USB recharging cable. You will need the recharging cable to charge up the game board which does come with this lot giving you one space to place your figure and the other space to let you load up the Play set piece or one of the toy box game discs. Another thing I found quite clever about the PS Vita version is that you need to connect the PS Vita with the Disney Infinity game board through blu-tooth which you can easily do by going through the settings on your Vita and registering the Infinity board within seconds plus quite easy turning it on and off.

When I mentioned that the Spider-Man Play set Piece comes with the Vita, you can rom through the streets of New York which is heavily inspired by Ultimate Spider-Man which centers on Green Goblin and Mysterio cloning the Venom symbiote and launching a symbiote invasion on the city. I know that Black Suit Spider-Man does come with the Starter Pack but you can pick up the figures in stores if you plan on buying more of the figures they'll tell you which figures are playable on each of the Play set Pieces. If you picked up Venom you can use it on the Spider-Man Play set but if you say bought the Captain America figure you can only play that on Toy Box mode or the game discs. You can buy and will play without any problems if you consider picking up either The Avengers play set or Guardians of the Galaxy play set; completing each of the Play set Pieces will have a different story and can take you at least 6-8 hours each so you are getting some hours in this toy to life game.

If you have any figures from the first Disney Infinity including the power discs they will be compatible on the PS Vita but downside is that you can't play any of the Play set Pieces from the first Disney Infinity. The more you play and download levels from other users when it comes to online Toy Box it will take some space on your PS Vita memory card so you may want to check if you have enough space first before downloading more and more levels created by other gamers and fans of the series.

With this being a port of the PS3 version I was really impressed how well the game looks on a handheld looking very colorful down to the last detail, but the frame rate can drop quite easily here and there but is easily ignored the more you play it the less likely you'll notice the issues. The camera system can be a little fiddly making it have a mind of its own however this game is also compatible on PlayStation TV enhanced controls with either a DualShock 3 or DualShock 4 controller.

Don't get me wrong not saying that the PS Vita version of Disney Infinity 2.0 is a bad game in general, I can understand why they would release this on the PS Vita encouraging younger children and newcomers alike into the series and one of those games that can be fun to play on a handheld console. For PS Vita fans like myself this can offer quite a lot replay value and showing off how good games look on the PS Vita especially when someone has the idea of bring a toys to life product to a system that not many people would considered picking up to begin with. I know it’s aimed at kids more but this can be a fun game for adults too including trophy support which will take you a while to get 100% complete. But for a fan of the PS Vita this is worth having a look into if you are new to the series and willing to buy some of the figures and Play set Pieces for it.
