Warren Spector talks about his time with Steve Jackson Games, his ideas on successful games, and his nickname "Speed Racer."
I played the crap out of the little cardboard "chit" game OGRE. Old school cred confirmed, Warren! :)
If anyone is entitled to brag about their gaming accomplishments, it's this guy! He's been involved with some of my favourite games of all time - Thief, System Shock and Deus Ex. Not that Warren is involved, but I hope that Deus Ex 3 and Thief 4 uphold such epic traditions :-)
VERY IMPORTANT! team up with this guy you guys can make games from withing the game! Can't wait to see it in 3d one day maybe 4 years when i can afford it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5O3eiVMVJk
very nice guy, I met him myself and he can be a bit extreme at times but mostly totally agree with his concept and direction on games. As for free time, I personally gave up TV, movies and so on to play games in my free time haha. Also really nice to see how he was given a chance and made such a big impact on the industry. I mean, the industry is so elite now that I see a lot of good possible "game designers" gone to waste.
wow i really like this guy! he is so cool! i wanted to become a game maker but now that he said you don't have any free time i'm kinda doubtful!~!
I've always liked Warren Spector. He has down to earth, clear vision, and comes across as any other normal guy doing what he loves. It's hard not to like him.
It's not difficult to see why he's the Unseen Juggernaut of the gaming world; if you haven't played a game he was involved it, I can almost guarantee that you've played a game influenced by his work.I love how well-spoken and cultured he is, this guy's one of my heroes.
Great interview of a great creative mind. Kudos GameSpot: you guys sure asked interesting questions.
Ha ha, Warren Spector is the man. I love how he admitted with shame that he watches reality TV. Would be awesome to work with him on anything.
Warren Spector is a gaming legend. Even if Epic Mickey were to disappoint, I still wouldn't hold it against Mr. Spector. During his time at Origin, Mr. Spector helped make some of my favorite games of all time. He is one of the greats.
A wonderful man! He isn't bittered, but I can't help but feel he pity's the fact he never earned his PhD. Dr. Warren Spector would've sounded really cool, now doesn't it?
Warren spector is awesome, this game is gonna be awesome! Its great to see a legend come back, and for the wii to get better 3rd party games!
