Could QFT get its own page on gamespot? I find episodes hard to find and the website hard to navigate. It would be easier to add the show to the video drop down menu

Peter Brown and Tom McShea discuss innovation, free 2 play, PC gaming and more on this week's Quoted for Truth.
Sad to hear about the people leave..what is going on?
If Kevin Vanord and/or Tom McShea leaves, I will never return to GS again -.-...
WTF? Why is everyone leaving Gamespot? First Tom Magrino, then Jane Douglas, now Brendan and John Davison?? Can anyone give a sensible explanation?
I was just about to say this. WTF? Is it everyone that didn't bow to the gaming giants & told it like it was? Tom & Brendan certainly raised great questions about the industry they worked in (that the higher ups might have disliked). Jane was nice, but she told it like it was, too, but usually through humor (still, another huge loss). John Davidson got the Giant Bomb squad back home, and he WAS a higher up, lol (I guess there's always someone higher up). You all are sorely missed, and I don't see how others still work here while you all leave (then again, that may be why you chose to leave?).
There are great editors at GS, which is why I come here, but I hate to get a feel of someone's reviews, ideas, persona, and then they are replaced. GS has to keep people around longer, and I hope it's not a financial reason that keeps people going out the door. You have to pay to keep good people when you find them, but maybe GS just doesn't want to go 'against the grain'?
Yeah completely agree with this and @johajo above. Ive come to really trust some of these editors views and opinions and so it will be like starting afresh with replacments which I suppose may not neccessarily lead to a bad thing but any change has to be more gradual otherwise followers will feel alienated.
The whole "PC isn't dead" issue is stupid to begin with. Of course it isn't. But it also isn't what it once was and regardless of what fanboys will tell you it isn't surging or poised to take back the console market. The future of gaming in another 10 years is likely a no console at all model because an online subscription model will likely be the most vialbe option. You'll be able to play on whatever platform of your choice since you'll be able to get on from anywhere you have an Internet connection.
Why we can't or shouldn't pay $20 on an iOS game... Because that is INSANE for an iOS game regardless of how awesome it is.
APPLE?? Apple products are inferior to competitors like Samsung and HTC. It's only "hipster" tech. It's for the technically inefficient users that wanna be part of the crowd. Apple is also trying to stifle their biggest competitors through lawsuits around the globe. If you can't innovate and out-sell them, sue them instead and try to get their products banned. Apples' motto should be.... smartphones for idiots.
@Vodoo I have got to say I agree with the hipster thing in some ways. I not a devoted apple fan but the other day I stumbled across this vid on youtube, it is pretty astonishing how far they first came when releasing the apple phone:

As long as games are programmed on computers, they will always be used to play games.. it goes hand in hand.
I enjoyed sneaking around in the earlier splitter cell but it got to much speedy shoot and if you got caught, no big deal, just shot your way out of trouble. i also enjoyed metal gear series but not so much metal gear solid 4. what made those games great was the stealth, their is plenty of shooting genre games out there, let them worry about the running and gunning. I want to stealth around and be penalized for being caught or discovered. I want it to matter if i killed a guard or let him live, or hide the body or not. Does anyone remember in metal gear 2 that the guards would have to radio in ever so often, and if they didn't the alarm would raise. Then the beefed up guards with vest and shotguns would come and look around. That was fun, paying attention to which guard was radioing in and hiding bodies. i like playing conviction but was way to much shooting, it didn't matter at all about being stealthy, just shot your way out of the situation, and seems the puzzle piece was removed. I remembered playing one of the splitter cell mission wheres a room had lasers and you had to sneak behind a guard that the lasers turned off to move forward.
You guys did not mention where John and Brenden went to work for their new careers ??
Show no longer works. I say put Danny on the show to mix things up a little!
Suggestions for the show:
- You guys get along too well. You need a third member to create more conflict.
- Less gameplay videos and more facial expressions
- Comments from the last show. It'd be interesting to hear opinions about your opinions.
- You don't need to use news to create every subject. It's hard to find five really interesting news per week.
Keep up the good work!
PC gaming is the future in my eyes. We have more indie games. and we have steam. the greatest retailer ever.
Is anyone aware of why Brendan and John are no longer at gamespot? It seems if it had been a peaceful transition they would have announced it on the show themselves.
I would agree with some of the other comments that the show needs a "Brendan" type character. I disagreed with what he said a lot, but is rational was never populist and usually revealing.
free play is bad in many ways wheat if skyrim was free to play "o you what that
legendary sword well for twenty bucks it's you's" that not what i won't so you can pay 60 bucks for a new game or 60 buck for sum armor and a sword, may be it's not pay to win you still have half a game a lot of the time
What ever happend to playing games for fun!? I don't care about games with "a message" i just want to sit down, relax and have fun. games don't need to emotional powerhouses to be great. Mario, one of the best games ever doesn't do anything other then just being a fun game.

Right now the industry is a little bit stuck in a vicious circle..
1) developers/publishers stick with what works/sells.. so a sequel is made
2) gamers buy what they know they like.. so a sequel is bought
A circle that needs to be broken at some point.. by either gamers or developers/publishers.
Even though this is true overall.. There are a few things that bother me about this. Because gamers want the same type of game, but they want new content as well. Often, publishers market the game as if it has new content.. but most of the time thats not the case. Just look at the COD series. Renaming perks and moving them to a different slot is not new content. Yet they market it as "something completely new".
No wonder gamers buy sequels when they are fooled like this.
Fooling gamers once, fine.. maybe you needed the money to keep your company going. Fooling the gamers sequel after sequel after sequel.. thats just pure evil on the companies side.
One should remember.. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
we all say that we need more new ip and you guys say that we need less squeals year after year. but it seems that "gamers" want squeals. i buy 10-15 games a year and usually a few of those are new ip.like this year i will buy Dishonerd, i picked up Kingdoms of amalur, sleeping dogs and a few xbla titels. but most people don't buy more than 5 games top and then it's hard to take a 60$ risk. a movie is a smaller risk and that's why i believe that it's easier to watch a movie that's not a squeal than a game. the great thing about xbla is that all games has a trial, and hopefully when all games are distributed digitally the consumer is given the same opportunity to test games before they play it. right now some games have demos, but far from every game has one.
They need to get Kurt Russell to play Snake since he is the original Snake anyways, Snake Plissken.

@buccomatic@alpha11gxp that will only be true when i can play skyrim on an iphone not a slimed down version
full or nearly full graphics power.
@buccomatic@PinchySkree@alpha11gxp yes as powerful as pcs are now but pc and consols will get more powerful
so when elder scrolls 10 or even 8 come out it will be you can't play on you iphone whan you have a pc with a processor clock at 20ghz
@mrsqwid @buccomatic @alpha11gxp I think it's going to be hard to slim down a game that was already watered down for consoles.
@buccomatic @mrsqwid Agreed. I cant wait to get my Android OS. Windows and Apple will be overshadowed by Android in no time. What I meant by PC will be the last one standing is you will buy hardware like PC users do already and chose what OS and software you want rather then buy a console. I think consoles will be more like HP and Dell are with PC's. There wont be the differences like there are now with PS3 and XBOX. In other words it will be a software war. Consoles and Computers (PC's or Apple Products) already use the same hardware.
Watched the first 5 mins and had to stop as I can't strangle you people through my monitor!!!
John Carmack is a driving force in the gaming industry (not only is he a freaking legend, rocket scientist and software engineer, he's also working on new VR hardware)!
Gamers care about movie stars as little as movie fans care about games!!!
Apple devices require hardware just like PC's and Consoles do, so I very much doubt that sets them to be a driving force in the industry, what doesn't require specialist hardware I hear you say? Cloud gaming, which is only going to become more and more popular while allowing developers at either end of the scale to do more with persistent digital worlds and such!!!
Running out of exclamation marks here :S
I'm gonna put this out there. Brendan was one of the better personalities on the site that could make a podcast more lively and enjoyable to listen to. He had chemistry with everyone on the Gamespot staff because he really knew how to direct a conversation.
Without someone like Brendan QFT barely has any chemistry. I am not meaning to offend Peter and Tom, but the commentary so far without Brendan has been bland. I definitely suggest adding someone else to the next show who can provide more "colorful" commentary.
Also, I still have to search for QFT instead of knowing what page it's on. Please get a more orderly website put together, Gamespot.
Agree. I liked Brendan, good luck to him wherever he goes from here. Won't miss John though, no offense to him.
I would say they were getting rid of the bRits but brendan was Canadian. Also, 'could' just be coincidence.
The Mass Effect series did a good job making you emotionally connected to characters that eventually died at some point during the three games and it was definitely effecting. That's the only example I can think of though.
Funny, I've been hearing that consoles are doomed because they are too stiff for the next generations, since there is a new demand for modifications applied by players and new business models. So, since predictions are for the death of normal and portable consoles along with PC, I guess everyone is going to be playing the next Elder Scrolls on a cell phone. lol
>apple and games
This isn't a good idea, touch-screens are limited and noone is going to spend 50$ on a game where your arms must fly all over the place instead of pressing a single button, we already have the kinect for that. We don't need new control-methods, until we have those things that read brainwaves and interpret thoughts.
>who should make games (lead into the holy land)
Businesses and companies are made to make money, that's a fact, they do that by making projects, but projects and generally game-development in those companies are streamlined and made to make money, and thus they are not flexible. For the industry to continue we don't need rules, no paths, no plans, nothing, we need some kind of amoeba-style of development that instead of being made of individual blocks just kind of... Is, as opposed to being something tangible.
>death
When it comes to the death of the player it can't be taken seriously, and shouldn't, if it was then suicide rates and depression would go to an all-time high, or people wouldn't play games because who wants to play a game for 40H+ just to die and loose everything?
However, when it comes to the deaths of others (NPCs and such) it should be takes both likely and not, the majority doesn't like death because it's a taboo, they play cames to get away from reality, not to get a new one. Another reason it doesn't work is because it's just too scripted, in no game where (important) people can die can you choose to do a "ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWAH!" and save both, even though the game says you can only save one.
Also, when it comes to death in wargames, it doesn't work, no sane publisher would publish a game where you kill jews and commit war-crimes, which are prone to happen during war. HoI3 for example doesn't work because you can't arrest everyone and send them to Siberian death-camps, nor can you choose to bomb civilians, which would have made the game serious.

You and I are on the same page on this one. I never understood why people think mobile games will take over the gaming market. The controls are hideously bad and yet people seem to ignore that fact. It seems the only games that actually play well on mobile phones are puzzle and rhythm games. Try and play an FPS on one and it's a nightmare.
@BIOJECT @vicke32 "??people think mobile games will take over the gaming market"
They aren't and people don't. The Business and companies out to make money (smallest investment for biggest return tell us that - and their figures and made up trends are pulled out of their butts. No one is buying it, we are not sheeople, we all think for ourselves and don't even care if millions (so we're told) of others are jumping of the bridge we won't!
Yea, but while we don't consider ourselves to be "sheeople", that doesn't go the plebs, explain why MW2 got 20 million+ sales?
I doesn't matter if we jump of the bridge or not, 20 million have already done it and we are what, like, less than 10.000? Hell, ask any adult who has an iPad/iPhone and they will say that they love them way more than consoles/pc, it's because apple is casual to the hilt. Do not under any circumstances believe that the gaming plebeians know anything at all, one can not "set an example" of how to be a good gamer, oh, and obviously don't believe in the spirit of humanity either, the masses are too easily manipulated.
