The rats are every where, and they crave meat. So knocking someone unconscious just means they are living, motionless, easy rat meat. The rats don't care either way. Imagine coming out of being unconscious with THAT scenario underway <shudder>

Toss their bodies on something elevated

Put them in a trash bin or on a rooftop.

A trash bin. Really. Rats don't get onto or into trash bins. And they can't find their way up on top of roofs either. Millions of rats...haha

Bend Time and Sleep Darts (upgraded for reload speed) really helped me out at tricky points. I could usually take down four guards simultaneously (4 bolts or 3 bolts and a choke) before Bend Time II ended.

every single person missed the point of this topic so far haha <facepalm>

No, not really. If you place the unconscious bodies in good spots, there's no reason to fear.

In fact, the last thing that will cross someone's mind as they're being tranq darted/chocked out is "omg what if the rats get me"
  • Oct 24, 2012 6:06 pm GMT
I addressed how to avoid that ethical issue.

What do you do with a drunken guardsman early in the morning?

Feed him to the hungry rats for dinner.
    ---
    How may I help you?
  • Oct 24, 2012 6:44 pm GMT
No, the rats can get everywhere, really possibly the only spot for a drunken sailor would be to put them in a row boat till they're sober, just like the song. because I don't think rats much care for swimming. Though they do jump ship first I guess from a sinking ship.

Even if the rats in the game can't figure out how to climb on top of a dumpster. A million actual rats would. And that was my thought process at the beginning of the topic lol.

    LOL @ "non lethal kill"
  • Oct 24, 2012 10:47 pm GMT
But placing them in good spots is hardly your highest priority when knocking them out stealthily. Maybe for out of sight spots perhaps. But is no one following the whole rats can get anywhere logic of my argument and that it's a death worse than an expertly placed dagger to the throat by a master assassin? or is everyone on the "well toss'em on a log and the computer rats cant get to them" mindset?

    really... lol

also LOL at self for non lethal kill <smirk>
    unintentional.

Seeing that the main non lethal technique in the game, a blood choke, would put people in a coma rather then put them to sleep, it's really not much better then killing them.
After all, the city's gone to hell, they can't even clear away all the bodies, and you expect them to start taking care of coma victims?

But if it does somehow magically put them to sleep like in the game, they simply putting them where the rats can't reach them aught to be sufficient.

Well, if you're going to go outside the game's logic and make the rats do things they can't do in the game, I'm going to say that when my Corvo puts an unconscious person in a trash can, he's actually hanging him from a pole, out of reach of a million rats.

Sometimes it's more ethical, sometimes it's not. A lot of the non-lethal options in the game are unethical. Neutralizing the targets with non-lethal option may doom them to a life of eternal hell. Although if the rats kill somebody that you choked it does count against you so it doesn't really count as non-lethal. :p
