Story-7.8/10

A amazing story overall, There are a few moments that can lead to "What-if's" and some Mid-boss Interruptions can become Repetitive(especcially because he shows up at the most Inconvenient times)
The story is a light take on a RPG style story, with many jokes along the way to the final boss fight.

The game has many different endings, depending on how many allies you've killed and etc.

After beating the game for the first time, You start a new
"Cycle" in which you keep all of your characters and equipment(Minus story characters for obvious reasons)

the story is quite long and deep, taking around 25 hours to beat depending on how good you are.

also as a grace to RPG'ers, there is no need for hours of mindless level grinding, the option is there of course.

GamePlay-9.9/10

Let's take a quick round up of what you can collect and do:

Item world
Dark assembly
Rank up in D.A(Dark assembly)
Rare and legendary items
Max level cap of 9999
and a max stored level cap of over 49,999
re-incarnation
Character creation

and so much more to list.

The character creation system is ALMOST perfect.

With so many different classes, tiers and skills to increase, you will be stunned.

The reason why it isn't perfect?

the more of the thing you kill, the cheaper it is to create.

So,if you where to kill 10,000 majins.

Majins would be cheaper to create.

though dragons, majins and some classes are sub-bosses and un-repeatable, meaning hours of grinding "Mana" to get a genius level dragon or divine majin untill the post-game.

Re-incarnation sets the character back to level 1 and "Stores" they're previous level, making them even stronger.

there is a max cap of 49,999+. i don't know for sure, i havn't reached it yet.

The item world is basicly your random dungeons.
though, every floor you complete, the item goes up a level and gets more powerful.

Dark assembly are the netherworld's government.
you can propose "Bills" to them
if it passes, you get what you want.
if it doesn't, you don't.

what makes this different are 2 big gameplay mechanics here.

"Bribery"
and
"Persuade by force"

When you bribe a sentor, thier rep for you goes up or down.
this convinces them to vote "Yea" to you.

after all that bribing, if the bill doesn't pass, you'd want to kill them, right?

well, your in luck.

Persuade by force puts you in a battle with the sentors, the ones who voted "Yea" are "3-rd party allies" and the opposing sentors are your enemies, kill all the enemies, and you get what you want.

there is so much to explain, but if i were to explain it all, you wouldn't even be able to read this review, it'd just be to long.

Graphics-7.8/10

the game's weakest point is that it *sort of* looks like a PS1 title, though the character models are great, the chat boxes and cutscene sprites are very bland.
the weapon skills look devestating, like they should.

there isn't really much to say about the graphics, they're *OK* to me, and will probably be fine for you.

Sound-A so solid 10/10

the music in this game is great, top notch. the sound effects are in sync and sound appropriate for the scene in progress.

Overall 9.0/10

Disgaea is amazing, my favorite title on the Playstation2.

if you like this,
you *may* want to check out disgaea 2 and 3.
if your not into RPG's, you might not care.
but it's a great game for anyone.
