A gem for the dedicated gamers, a big pile of smoking garbage for those who want instant gratification.
For those who played other Nippon Ichi titles or like games with huge content and interesting battle-mechanics, read on.
If you aren't familiar with Nippon Ichi games, you probably will be at a total loss when you first start up this game. There are so many things to do, so many mechanics to explain, there's the item world, the main quests, side missions, bills to pass, characters to create... So it isn't strange that so many gamers leave this game after a couple of hours. But if you press on you will eventually find yourself playing for many, many hours.
When you start the game, you find yourself walking around a hub-world from where you can start the main missions and talk to other characters. The main story is amazingly funny and will suck you in, if you like absurd dialogues and situations.
The main quest is long, immersive and filled with plot-twists. But outside the main missions there is a variety of other things you can do:
you can enter items you have obtained in an attempt to make them stronger,
you can create other characters to join your team,
you can pass bills with which you unlock new characters, items, stages...
The battle system is somewhat similar to other strategy games on DS ( like FF: tactics), but it has some interesting mechanics like the geo panels ( a sort of puzzle-game element) and it's more complex but rewarding.
There are really to many game mechanics to list here, I can only really recommend this title when you want a game that will consume 50-100 hours of your life. But you will love every single minute of it.
