Hit the dusty road and don't look back...

This is my first foray into 'offroad' racing and I must say I'm really charmed. Okay, so "DiRT 2" isn't really a rally racer, more a kind of 'middle-of-the-road' thrill, in that it's not exactly off-road, nor is it street-racing.

What bothers me slightly though, is the lengthy intros to each race. To be peeking around the 'backstage' premises is fun, yes, but only for a couple of races, because, to be honest, at the beginning of your career, some of the intros are almost as long as the 2-lap challenge you're about to face.

Selecting a rig and a race also works a tad sluggish (and no, it's not my gear that is slow), but once you hit the DiRT, so to speak, it's all fun-fun-fun.

I also want to stress the fact that this game is a treat for ye ol' eyes when played on an ATI 57xx/58xx/59xx series card, just for the rather boggling eyecandy that is being displayed under DirectX 11. (The game comes for free when buying an ASUS 5870/5850 card, by the way, as a means to promote DirectX 11)

So, is "DiRT 2" something special? Not really, bar the aformentioned DirectX 11. But among the racing games, it sure is one of the bettrer ones I recently played. Better in the sense of plain old fun in combination with awesome graphics and a soundtrack that makes you shake a leg or two while biting the rear-bumper of the car you're about to overtake...

Did I already told you I like the game? No? Well, I do...
