Dig Dug returns on the Xbox Live Arcade and is as fun as I remembered and for fans it shouldn't disappoint.

Dig Dug is just a good old classic game. It's fun and worth the five dollars if you've ever enjoyed the game and can't get your hands on it anywhere else. If you haven't played it before though try the trial version first.

The graphics of Dig Dug are obviously going to be outdated, but it's the bad graphics in a likable way. The old school look is great, but it's a shame that Namco doesn't really do anything with their games on the Xbox Live Arcade like Konami does.

The sound effects and music are also outdated like they're supposed to be. The old music is kind of neat especially because it stops when you stop. The sound effects are cool too and work well with in the game as old as they are. Again it's too bad Namco doesn't try to modernize their games like Konami with the option of new or old.

The value is probably not going to be to great for many people, but for any fan it should be plenty worth it. Five dollars really isn't asking too much for these games as you'd probably spend just as much in the arcades if you like the game. No multiplayer is what really hurts this game, but it's probably the most well done Namco game availiable through the Xbox Live Arcade service. The achievements in this game are a little more challenging than previous Namco games on the Xbox Live Arcade as well, but not that hard. The leaderboards may keep you competing and playing with your friends to get the best score too.

The gameplay is really simple and controls really well. All you have to do is pop or crush all of your opposition with rocks or your pumper thing. You may dig around through the ground creating a trail and is the prefered path of your enemies, however your enemies can get to you in there ghost form deal and move in uncharted areas. After you've caused two rocks to fall within a stage a fruit or vegtable will appear in the middle and will grant you bonus points provided you pick it up. Your key goal other than advancing through the stages is to get the highest score you can like most arcade games. Dig Dug is as simple and fun as it ever was on the Xbox Live Arcade.

Dig Dug is a good arcade port and holds true to the original. It's lack of multiplayer is a disappointment but can be forgiven for it's such an enjoyable game. If you like Dig Dug and got 400 microsoft points your looking to use you might as well get this game.
