- Sep 27, 2010 10:06 am GMTI figured it's my turn to post a topic! 1000 posts in and I know more about you lot than I do some of my friends. It's bizarre haha!

what's brown and sticky? - Sep 27, 2010 2:37 pm GMTIndeed. Mental how long these topics have gone on for too now and how only the hardcore are left. We should do a drink one day. I am genuinely gutted that I missed out on meeting TS the other week.
You lost at home to Stoke but we lost at home to West Brom. And badly. After that Spurs game and watching the Chelsea loss in the pub, I went into that game in high(ish) spirits. Then we go 3-0 down.
All is OK with the family though thanks. Just a lot to sort out now.
Sri Lanka sounds cool. I could do with that sort of thing now. How long you out there for? And who is this bird you shagged? Seeing her again?
I have decided to make next month Austerity October. I've got £500 on my credit card to pay off and £800 on my overdraft. I've got about £700 to come back from work in the form of expenses and so I reckon that if my only socialising for the month is going to games, that I can get everything cleared. Wish me luck lads. It is going to be a long and hard month.

She's a girl that I know through a friend. President of the Huddersfield University (Surf)Boarding Association, which is the biggest society at Hudd Uni. Met her a couple of times through nights out and I remember meeting her the other night. Next thing I know I'm knees deep inside her and then the next thing I know, I've woken up. She's 27 too, so she's the oldest bird I've shagged. Thing is I think it's set something off in me cos even though I know it's a one night stand and all that and I'm not interested in her in anything other than maybe hooking up again if we bumped into each other in a club, I think it triggered something in my head, cos for some reason for the first time in well over a year I want a relationship. Which is particularly odd cos I was seeing a girl back in Carlisle and I never felt like this after we broke it off (both moved away, didn't see the point). But then you don't get a girl without a job and you can't get a job when you're going to be out the country.
So my head is screwing me around, cos I don't have too much money I can't go to the pub as much as my friends, and because I've injured my knee really badly I can't go running or play football with them either, so I'm stuck in a rut.
So for two weeks I'm going to be in limbo. And I need to get out of my house! I'm just ranting now but I like getting what's in my head out in writing, so just ignore this. I'll probably wake up tomorrow and be the happiest dude on the planet.
And to be honest, losing to Stoke is tons worse! They could well be relegation candidates with us this season. It's all fine and well beating Villa and Everton but I'd have swapped those for wins over Blackpool and Stoke. I'm going to miss three Newcastle games when I'm away and in a way, I'm pondering over receiving absolutely no footy related news over there if I can, and just find out everything that happened when I come back. Naturally, that means I'll be on the BBC website on my phone every 5 minutes during every game.

what's brown and sticky? - Sep 28, 2010 4:35 am GMTI hope no-one's complaining about their football team with me in earshot. We're bottom of the league and been 3-0 down inside half an hour twice in our last 2 away games.
I've finally had a phone call from my hosptial and they want me in. Today. Hopefully be out soon.

Ubi fides ibi lux et robur - I can't promise you success, but I can promise a trip to the moon - Oct 1, 2010 7:29 am GMTGood stuff Yami. What's the deal anyway, is this going to get any better long term? I had a mate how had (and presumably still has) Crohns, but I dont see him any more as he moved to Reading to manage a department at a Tesco. Has there ever been a more mundane reason to uproot yourself than that?
Austerity October has begun for me. This weekend I am indoors and on the Ryder Cup.

Was meant to be on some wonder drug but there's problems with my blood so I'm having more tests done to see if I can still do it. I hope it can, it gives 8/10 patients a new lease of life. I ended up in hospital due to anemia, my blood count dropped to 6, should be something like 12/13. God knows how I went to work for a while but I've had a transfusion which presumably has increased it - they've let me go home and forced me off work for a week.
Got an appointment in 2 weeks time, so I'll know more then.

No, can't think of one. Even moving for "the schools" would have been better tbh. How's things your end.

Ubi fides ibi lux et robur - I can't promise you success, but I can promise a trip to the moon - Oct 2, 2010 3:44 pm GMTYeah, all alright really. Am feeling in quite a relaxed place this weekend.
Had some good news late in the day on Friday that my tour of the country paid dividends and that we've won 3 projects. That is enough to keep me busy and keep the books ticking over until the New Year. We needed them pretty desperately too.
Other than that I've been austere so far. Went down to the market today and spent a tenner on the veg stall. Got a 10kg sack of potatoes that I'll never eat all of, 3kg of onions, a carrier bag of tomatoes, a carrier bag of mushrooms and a carrier bag full of bananas as well as a few peppers. Healthy and cheap eating.
Now I'm gonna have New Super Mario on the Wii back on after the Football League Show and play that through until PES11 drops through my door on Friday.

Good stuff, glad to hear it. I've just had a phonecall of doom from my manager. Only 4 of 16 are being kept on. I'm not optimistic at all.
Time to work on my CV.

Ubi fides ibi lux et robur - I can't promise you success, but I can promise a trip to the moon - Oct 4, 2010 9:11 am GMTMy life is just completely in limbo until after this holiday. I'm still sending out CVs but I'll admit it's gotten half-hearted since there's only 8 days until I go. I come back from my holiday on the 22nd of October, so I've decided that failure to have a job by the 22nd of November would mean......err, I'm not sure. How would I punish myself? Cutting out the Irn Bru and all luxuries until I do get a job. That sounds fair.

what's brown and sticky? - Oct 4, 2010 9:20 am GMTI'd give yourself longer than that before calling yourself a failure, we're in the middle of a recession. I struggled for months before finding work in the one place that's hiring; the Job Centre and thanks to the tories their cutting back on front line staff despite not having enough to cope with the demand at the moment.

Ubi fides ibi lux et robur - I can't promise you success, but I can promise a trip to the moon - Oct 6, 2010 4:32 pm GMTI'm buried in work. I don't know how my school expects me to complete all these radically different long-term assignments in the space of two weeks, not to mention with all the extra work we've been given, and the tests we have to study for.

How may I help you? - Oct 8, 2010 1:27 am GMTThat's not promising sounding news Yami. It is better than them keeping 0 out of 16 on though. Any back up plans? What did you do you degree in?
Either of you thought of applying for some of that short term Census work that they put out yesterday? I am not going to link to it as that last linking to a job that I did on the Football Board got modded and got me a 3 day warning thingy. Anyways, I am going to get an application in.The extra cash could come in handy.
I had my last physio session on my back yesterday and have now been properly discharged 7 months on from it actually happening. It's properly wrecked my body though as I havent been able to do much. Am actually looking forward to getting down to the gym again.
Am having an unofficial day off today. I feel quite fed up with the week and am waiting for for my new phone between 8 and12 (and am slowly losing faith as more than half that time has elapsed so far) and them am picking up the new Pro Evo and having a session on that tonight.

219 goals remaining. - Oct 8, 2010 9:33 am GMTMy backup plan involves a large amount of panicking to be honest. My degree was in Computer Studies, but it's a lot harder to get into the IT industry than when I started and I need industry related qualifications nowadays which I don't have nor can afford. Not sure what to do to tell the truth, I'll have a look into the census thing though. Just got to find a desk job given my current state of health.
Did the new phone come in the end? Glad you've had the last physio session, 7 months is bloody ages.

Ubi fides ibi lux et robur - I can't promise you success, but I can promise a trip to the moon - Oct 9, 2010 3:27 am GMTYeah it came in the allotted time too. Only problem is that now I have to go down to the Vodafone shop and get the new SIM activated because it's a micro one and I cant just bang my old one in there. Very annoying and no one told me that (though basic research on my part could have).
I am well pleased to be off the physio now and the back is still quite far from 100% but is so, so much better than it was. I've just got the best part of about 2 extra stone to shift that has come from a combo of a lack of exercise and the wedding and honeymoon stuff.
Anyways, I've got my fingers crossed for you Yami. Have you tried the Jobs Go Public site? They advertise all the public sector stuff on there. I signed up about 10 years ago and still get about 3 emails a week, but when I used them, they were good.
Scrawn- I am impressed with you FB updates RE you utterly wrecked body clock. Is it wrecked in tune with the timezone for Sri Lanka or are you going to get double jet lag?

Haha, it's more because I'm very much in limbo at the moment waiting for this holiday. Vowed not to touch my account save for getting a rail ticket so I'm keeping it very tight on the money. As a result I don't really have much to do, plus the job search has been reduced to virtually nothing because I'm waiting until after my holiday to go on a proper full-on search. It means that time isn't really a factor for me at the moment. However the way I'm going, I'll be perfect for Sri Lanka, so I might just keep it up!

Hadn't tried it no, but I will keep an eye out for it. Thanks. Found out a couple of people aren't going for it so the odds are slightly better.
Hope you have fun Scrawn!

Ubi fides ibi lux et robur - I can't promise you success, but I can promise a trip to the moon - Oct 17, 2010 9:49 am GMTMark the day lads. It is the 17th of October and I've just had my first argument with the Mrs about what we are doing for Xmas and where we are spending it. I hoped we'd at least make it to November..... Am not a happy bunny.
Got a 2 day week next week though. Got her Nan's funeral tomorrow and that isnt going to be a fun day but then am working from home on Tues and Weds and then am off to Chessington for Thurs and Fri. There's some newish hotel there that overlooks a fake African Savannah thing, so I am having a bit of that.
