Video Game History Month: Diablo (PlayStation)

Very informative, but couldn't you have picked a different sound track . . . even if the music has to do with the original games it still doesn't really feel right. It also made me want to go back to sleep . . .

Blizzard may have compelling universes?.but it's art style is killing them(at least for me). Come on guys drop the cartoons. I mean does anyone remember when Diablo looked scary? And now it just looks like WoW?

I love the first two titles and the franchise is one of my favs. but Blizzard has let me down a lot years with no true successor to Diablo 2. Close to 10 years it's been. As good as they are thy are also lazy.One release per year just does'nt cut it. And usually it's just an expansion to WOW. But I'll but it and Iknow I'll like it. If and whenever it comes out. The Tee shirts were in Hot Topic 18 months ago and the wallpapers have been available for longer.

with blizzards release history in mind, it's fair to say that we can expect this game late 2012...

Maybe we'll get a release date at Blizzcon this year

Diablo 1 and 2 are my favorite games ever. Blizzards art styles and sound is second to none imo.

They are releasing this game way to late. dragon age and da2 are way better and have both isometric and third person views. Diablo and Diablo 2 was sick though :)

June 28, 2008... That was since when I started "upgrading" my laptop so that it could run the upcoming DIABLO III... lol, I have already switched 4 laptops, and I'm still switching... :P

Blizzard's art style has evolved to WoW... their future games also Diablo 3 will have the same feel but look closely that are many improvements over each aspect, there wasn't nothing that hurt my eyes or Diablo itself, could've been more heavy in some aspects BUT! can't w8 to to PLAY it... Hopefully there will be a lot of RPGs and dungeon crawlers this year to fill the gap till there... hoping for torchlight's 2 multiplay and story to be interesting...

The graphics for the Diablo III gameplay on this video actually looked good. A lot better then the little character videos and whatnot.

diablo 1 was also available for the PlayStation 1, nuff said .

PC smeeshi, this series could easily come out on a console. can't forget about some of the dungeon crawlers snow blind and a few others made for consoles those played well. plus without the headache of updating hardware, id say its an easy sell for D3 to be ported over to console. both systems are capable of handling this title. the only question would be is if blizzard is capable of converting the control scheme so it plays fluid vs playing sluggish.

i grew up with these games..no rpg dungeon crawler iv played so far comes NEAR the diablo series

I hope after Diablo III will come out that Blizzard will show again to the "console exclusive" industry how rewarding the PC game industry is when you do things right.

That "Into Town" soundtrack is quite possibly the creepiest of game soundtracks ever!

It depresses me so much that the games I grew up with are now 'Games History'. First Duke Nukem 3D, now this! God I'm old. Btw, Diablo II's intro and ending were both so awesome they gave me actual shivers. Baal walking out of the asylum as it goes up in flames = P.I.M.P.

I played Diablo and Diablo 2 with all the characters and every time i played it was a new expirinece. I hope and think Diablo 3 will do the same or beter.

Greatest game ever!!!

The Only reason why I don't play Diablo II as much as I used to to this day, is the hacks. Nothing was worse than trading for an item, just to find out it was duped, and have it disappear. Or log in to find all of your stuff stolen. >: ( I still hop on every now and then, but definitely would be playing more if it wasn't for the hacks.

The mentioning of hacks reminded me that there may be a bright side to having Diablo III chained to Battle.net 2.0 (it will be chained, have no doubt about that): having the player's data hosted only on Battle.net's servers would mean that cheating is a whole lot harder.

The Classic goodness

Diablo was a huge innovation for its time. WOWs underlying concepts were really derived from the success of diablo. Its all about the loot system. Make sure there is always a chance at incrementally better new weapons.

Diablo was probably my first really involving multiplayer experience, dungeon crawling with friends never got old
