Yeah, Diablo 3 was a let down as far as difficulty.   But, this game is hard from the start.  This is what Diablo 3 should have been.  Very nice game and one to play for years to come.

This is quite a challenge.  But, Atlus gives you your moneys worth with their games.  Always a challenge and many hours of play with replay value added.

Game looks  average at most. Mediocre best. I would like to play it just because it's one of those games you should have an opinion about. Too expensive and demanding however. I will wait until it reaches around 20-25 Euro mark. Certainly I don't see as a game worth 50 Euro.

@Doomrul From the trailers - Diablo lll looked almost flawless to me. It was another Blizzard game I could not wait to experience.

After playing this game - it is as you said, average. Mediocre even, by Blizzard standards, as it got boring only in a few months. I envy your ability to see games for what they truly are just from the trailers or reviews.

Saying you don't like this game, but then you put 100 hours into a level 60 doesn''t make much sense....

Sardinar
Sardinar

@iMpActX- I put 120 hours into this game and I don't like it. Oh, I don't like it because it gets boring after 100 hours - and this is unacceptable by RPG, or Blizzard, standards.

Every other Blizzard game I've played for years. Diablo 3 got boring only after a few months.

Having played all the Diablo games I think this one is ok, but I was hoping for better than ok. I did not look into either auction house and the RMAH almost made me take a pass on this game. My biggest problem is and remains the always on internet requirement, as being able to play offline or on a local lan was a very nice thing with previous Diablo games, this ruined Starcraft for me as well.

The graphics are updated a lot over DIablo 2 but not so much you feel like your playing anything amazing and at times it feels very much Diablo 2 which is not a bad thing. The story line is ok but klunky at times and it is probably the shortest of all the games.

To be honest I think they worried way to much about the auction stuff and did not put enough time into content. The customization of your character is easier and I don't mind that, but is rather blah compared to the choices you had to make in D2.

Obviously Blizzard has moved on from games that you could play for years on and off, I have not played Starcraft since beating it and this feels no different.

Again, in the end this is a fairly short ok game, replay value is not there for me especially with the always online requirement.

If you want to grab a little Diablish fun then this is for you, just don't expect it to last anywhere near as long a D1 or D2 did.

I am new to the Diablo series, but I am not new on playing RPG. I have to say that I am pretty disappointed at this game and what Blizzard done to the series. When you first appear to the title screen the graphics are very child like, very cartoony, which is disappointing because Blizzard had about 10 years to improve the game. As you come to you character selection you will notice that you cannot modify your character of choice, which is also disappointing because in any RPG you can modify you character looks. The story line of this game is pretty pathetic, it is not deep at all, you do not connect to your toon at all. Also, the game is very short only four acts which will take you only a few hours to beat the game. I understand that their is harder modes, but who wants to sit there and listen to the same pathetic story line over and over. The loot system of this game is terrible because you rarely get gear that is made for your character. You can fight an elite and get shitty gear, what happen to the fight rewards.

I did manage to get my DH to lvl 60 and into inferno and I have to say that it is almost impossible to play the game by yourself. If you play co-op may god be with you because you will die a lot. Overall you will have to buy gear with gold, but prices are so ludicrous that you will be playing the game 100's of hours just to buy boots or use RMAH, which in my opinion is not worth doing, because you should get rewarded on beating bosses and elites. To end it, this game is not worth buying unless they fix the loot system. Putting RM into a game kills the integrity of the franchise. Blizzard should buy Skyrim and learn on how to make a RPG. I give this game a 6.5 / 10

Blizzard is losing their prestige.  I remember a company 10-15 years ago that released amazing games.  Quality was their goal, and they achieved it many times.  Now their priority is money.  RMAH on top of forcing me to buy 3 copies of the game so I can play it with my family has shown Blizzard's true colors.

This is a game thats too easy from normal all the way to hell mode, but gets idiotically difficult on the inferno act 3 to act 4. Most of the monster just one-shot you in inferno act 3 and 4, which makes your skills as a player to be out of the dictionary. Moreover, with this idiotically difficulty, it forces player to stick to the same old boring kiting build.

Maps are not as random as I've remembered from playing Diablo 2, and 90% of the time, I've always guessed correctly what's gonna happen next through out my endless farming.

"Skill cannibalization" is also another major issue in this game. Take the Energy Armor from Wizard for example, it is a no-brainer that player MUST have this skills in their skill set, which makes other armor skills like ice armor and lighting armor to be easily forgotten, thus, unique build is impossible in this game UNLESS you've godly items. But you could pull it all off with any kinds of build with godly items isn't it? So, godly items is not the point.

The game simply just dies off the more I played it, as farming has became a chore rather than a pleasant sense of achievement dungeon crawler style.

@ainouta You are an exception to the rule, not the norm. At least you have given specifics, unlike so many, but what you fail to realize by your lack of research, is that the game is being patched and Pvp and palyer progression is coming. Does anyone remmeber, that D2 was also not perfect on release ?

I think reviews of this game were a little premature....The game was built with doing all 4 difficulties in mind, not just one play through..and most of these reviews are made from ppl who haven't reached inferno - where the real problems are located.  i really enjoyed Normal..but after that it fell apart exponentially with each play through. It becomes disheartening with constant death, increased repair costs and the almost mandatory use of AH - which became worse once RMAH launched.  Then Blizzard openly admits to end game not being sufficient as a long-term game....which baffles me considering the longevity of D2 and its fans.  I thought Blizzard only made games which were meant to be played for years as opposed to weeks.

Hopefully this game will get better with time, as they ARE always working on one thing or another...though the recent MF post has me a little skeptical!  For those of you still enjoying yourself... I'm truly jealous of your application of "ignorance is bliss".

forthefunofit
forthefunofit

@shahirbear Inferno issues are known, and being fixed ( if not already ) . It wAS clearly stated by D3 devs that the AH/rmah was not mandatory to progress in the game..how else do you think items are thee for purchase, but by those that 'stuck it out' for the challenge and got  those items ? Somebody is better than you, face it.  That's life, and there is your blissful moment ;)

I never stated I was a good gamer by any margin.

What developers say should be isn't always what is.

Unfortunately, the way the drops work isn't exactly what we thought it would be.  The drops rarely fit your character, especially in later gameplay (i.e., hitting the brick wall that is Act 2)...so odds are you will take those items, sell them for gold (or real money) and put it BACK into the store.

Every one of my gamer friends (and most ppl I met online while playing publicly) have either quit or keep playing ONLY for RMAH for the real money.  I can appreciate the aspect of making money, but it feels like it takes away from what a game may be, especially with Blizz taking 15%.

I sincerely do not know why this game felt so...short and empty in comparison with its younger brother....but after reading why the original D2 creators left Blizzard has shed some light.

That said, I will probably change my opinion when they release an expansion to "completely" the poorly written, shoddy plot. LOL. Cheers.

@Hendry_7777 It most defintely Did deserve 8.5, and I played D2/LOD for 100+ hours. I had zero issues , short of admissions by blizzard and fixes done/coming, with playing and enjoying D3, at all.

The game IS indeed dying if ppl looking at the details everyday like RMAH, dwndling player base everyday, no addtional contents and the game is huge FAIL when you can finish it less than day, anyway you looking at it.

forthefunofit
forthefunofit

@Hendry_7777 There is no player base dwwindling, where are you getting your stats ? The dwidling part, is public games, and those games were subject to cheaters and annoying players, even in D2. Get your facts straight.

Dont buy this game, after hitting inferno all the way to the end, there was "nothing" left to do, its just fuc@#$ shallow as hell, look at the average user rating  then ull know this game is a big failure. its not terribad its just not worth 60bucks when u can get a lot better games like DA2, wticher 2, skyrim and darksouls ( iknow its not the same genre but still, its alot more fun)

forthefunofit
forthefunofit

@dreamchaserwu average user rating means nothing, it just means there are alot of whiny kids here yelling and screaming, just like they do on other games they want to trash because they dont have what it takes to beat the game. The blizzard forums were /are just like that too, and most gave up already. I guess they got tired of talking like idiots, saying things like wanting jays head on a spike. Real mature, and I say borderline psychotic and deserving jail time. Most rational people dont talk like that, and I see some of that same beavior here. OH game sucks! life isn't worth living nannanna...yeah sure.

After playing for a while now on Inferno I must say I feel ashamed for defending this game for so long. The drops you get are almost always trash forcing you to farm gold for days or spend real money to get an upgrade. And why is inferno so difficult?Well the fair thing is that the elites have 4 abilities. That should make for some fun encounters. They don't.Most elites are ridiculously resistant to damage. And if you spend too much time in combat with the same elites pack you get a debuff that will constantly drain your health until you are dead. Now I don't know about other people but to be killed by a timer is not my idea of fun.Same goes for the enrage timers on bosses. What the hell is this crap? Are the Blizzard devs lacking so much in creativity department they need to use these cheap tricks to artificially increase the difficulty? There's no skill involved. You just need to buy gear from the AH.Disappointing.Very,very disappointing. On the bright side Torchlight 2 will be released soon. There's also Grim Dawn (from the makers of Titan Quest) that will be released next year.

@Regrets1015 I just tried this game demo on steam then bought  Torchlight 2 and got the first torchlight for free!  This game is way better than I expected.  I'm kinda surprised Gamespot hasnt written anything about it recently.  Though it is a Diablo clone, it does have the old Diablo feel to it.  I guess it's a bit nostalgic for me.  Thanks the recommend!

@moc5 Ha, TL2 graphics are way too cartoony, but I get they are trying to keep requirement down possibly for all users, which is what blizzard also did similarly with D3. D3s graphics are far superior tough, and it easily shows in shaders among other things. From what Ive seen, and while TL 2 looks interesting, I'd rather spend $20 on something else. I 've tried TL1 demo, and the art work is do bad that its not easy to see where the stairs are sometimes. Talk about easy LOL,,,TL1 is so easy you never die. At least D3 , even in normal mode has plenty of challenge.
