Is this the game I've been waiting over a Decade for ?
Well here it is.
Day of Launch - and well, the game is bascially what I expected.
I do have a couple gripes though, so Let me begin with the Server Connections.
After a few hours of gameplay, I get 'in game' messages - stating the servers will be down for a while...
Okay, so what? I'm not interested in multiplayer anyway.
Nooo, thats not the case. In order to play this game - you need to have a Constant internet connection? Who in the World thought this was a Good Idea? I even bought the Disk in case I wanted to play this Portable. So if my Wifi happens to lose connection - my game is immediately interrupted and I have to relaunch the game....Suckfest - Part 1 , and its a big one !
Not only will Not having internet, and that not allowing you to play, appearantly, if Blizzard's IT staff have to update the servers, you're not playing then either. Today (launch day) the servers were down for 4 hours, and we were completely unable to play for that period of time? It may seem arbitrary to complain about that, But how Often will that continue to happen in the future?
Okay, gameplay. Nothing new or More or Less action than what was originally devolped from Dialbo 2. A constant Left Click from the mouse for Every action in the game. Sure it was okay 12 years ago, Heck I was only 23 then - But at 35, my wrist cant deal with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Would have preferred the ability to utilize a WSAD configuration, to atleast move my Character around the map.
Graphics are a little jittery.. Im certainly not running a run of the mill PC. My entire Rig has been updated to the Latest GFX card and CPU/Mobo. Frames are high, but regardless - something glitches on occasion ? No reason for that...Maybe thats what Blizzard was working on today? Hopfully that will atleast work itself out ??
Another thing. For a game to have been delayed for so long, This game doesnt look new ? Looks outdated by a couple years atleast. Not ugly, just a bit rigid where it could have been smooth edges.
Sound is a thing of beaty - I thought. Music is great (even though I turn it off) . Effects of you smashing monsters and such - is very satisfying, and the sound really helps the Low end --thuds---.
Overall, it is a Very good game. Its atleast the same game as Diablo II, with the exception of updated graphics.
To sum it all up..
Yes, its a great addition to the Diablo franchise. But I really wish I didnt have to be connected to the internet - Every Single Second I Play . . Sheesh.
Extra options for controls would have been nice.
Graphics could have been better.
Thing is, its still an addicting game - and I plan on staying up for a while to see where else the story takes me.
