10 years ago, was worthy of a prime score, but today is just 'average', bots and hacks destroyed MP.

When Diablo 2 first came out, it was perhaps one of the best RPGS of the time, but obviously as time drags on this once gem of a game is rather jaded these days, and thats speaking from a diablo fan for life. One of the major problems is actually the rampant cheats and hacks, it's practically impossible to play the game without being spam botted to death (unless you password or set a level cap), or just join the million or so boss botting games and get power levelled up.

The official ladder is totally useless too, everybody hacked the way to the top, and the same with items too ~ so many duped items are out there, its just sad. And Blizzard has never been able to stop them, so they just gave up and occasionally over the years did a mass ban in the rather redundant hopes of stopping the hackers...it failed.

The game itself, by 'todays' standards is actually just average, power level your character, finish the story and then begin the item crusade to 'max' out your character, rinse and repeat with new characters thus the way of the Diablo style games. Some of initial problems that should have been fixed such as duriel (normal mode) being massively overpowered for the level has never been fixed, not to mention a whole mess of other minor problems such as warping mobs but overall the game 'works' okay enough, provided you can stomach the bugs, the hackers and are fine with countless hours spent powerlevelling then MFing.

Lets hope that Diablo 3 will not suffer the same fate.
