Oh gawd I hate this reviewer his accent is so horribly nasal it's like he has a cold all the time :S
Guys: The reviewer is Greg Kasavin; a video game review legend and one of the guys who made Gamespot what it is today. Show some respect. This is one of his erliest video reviews so I'm sure he was a bit nervous on cam. His reviews are the most accurate and descriptive of any Gamespot has ever had.
Diablo is a great game but tbh I think its a very quick game and even though I played it through 10-12 times I still wish I could have just continued on forever. If you want to try Diablo 3 when it comes out but want to have something to do right now then I recommend you to actually play this game if you haven't its not much when it comes o graphics and it cant even play in widescreen but its still one of the best game experiences you can have.
Because of this game, every real isometric RPG is called a 'Diablo type game'. Even if these RPG's have a much larger, more open world, with many more quests and much more NPC interaction along with less combat! It has led to games like Fallout 3 being called a 'shooter-RPG' just because laser guns are used and generally has made the RPG genre very confusing for many gamers! In other words, it has a lot more to answer for than being a classic hack and slash RPG!
I remember playing this game for hours upon hours without noticing, Blizzard never dissapoint.

This was my first RPG....I beat it in a day.....because I played through it 13 hours straight...no joke! It's hard to put down! It pulls you in immediately when you run it!
I played this game until i was sick of it, i didn't want to play it for for as long as i lived, then a few weeks later the craving kicks in again and i'm back on. Just like a drug.
It is still one of the best RPGs I've got and believe me, I've got a whole butt-load of 'em!!!!
kind of amazing that this game was hot in its time and only what was it three years later something as amazingly better such as world of warcraft was being released. this says a lot about what we can expect from diablo 3
